Howdy! I've been lurking in these forums on and off for years now for advice and suggestions for working on my truck, but just recently gave in to the urge to full send it and do some more major modifications. For some background on me, I'm a (soon to be) industrial engineer with a welder, power tools, and access to construction scraps. I bought my Tacoma when I turned 16 (2nd gen 2.7l 2wd; gets the job done and was what I could afford).

I looked for a topper for my truck for a long time but all the ones I've been able to find have been out of my price range. Naturally, I decided I was just going to make it myself.

While planning out my topper I began to realize how much more room and versatility I would get out of a flatbed with a topper instead of making one for the stock bed...

...so, naturally, I decided I was going to make it myself.

It's still a work in progress, but it's coming along. I'm planning on building a luggage rack to replace the old bumper, and adding a skirt on the sides as a mounting point for the topper or straps for hauling.

Excited to finally get involved in the community!
