    Hey everyone.

I am a complete noob when it comes to suspensions…actually, I’m pretty much a noob when it comes to vehicles period. My ability to do vehicle work left me a couple of decades ago – think 72 Datsun B210 or 84 Firebird. I’ve read the FAQ section but putting that knowledge to practical use is a bit different.

That said, I’m asking for advice on how I would want to upgrade my suspension. For background, I currently have a 2023 Off-Road. My after-retirement plan for it is to do a bit cross-country travel (Overlanding type). Would like to visit Prudhoe Bay, Ak, Utah, Colorado, mountains, deserts, beach etc so I want a good mix of on-road/off-road capability.

I plan on doing a RSI Smartcap and iKamper RTT system or possibly an Alu-Cab canopy camper setup. Additional weight will include RCI full steel skids, and sliders, CBI front and rear bumpers along with adding several hundred pounds with further vehicle mods and gear. I plan on doing 33-inch tires and a 2-inch lift (I was told that anything more than a 2-inch lift would void out the warranty). However, I’m not ruling out the bigger tires or a higher lift if that is necessary.

I’m sure that there is more to this than just changing out some leaf springs and shocks but I don’t know what else to be looking at. I’d rather have a better idea of what this entails than just going to a shop and say “take my money” and trust him.

So, with the above information in mind and without breaking the bank (thinking $2-4k if that is a reasonable cost) what would be the suspension upgrades you would get or that I should be looking at.

    Thanks

Today finished adding Bilstein 6112/5160 with Icon RXT leaf pack on my 2022 TRD Off-Road Access Cab, bought them from Hotshot Offroad. My purpose is same as yours but gear set up a little different. I have a DECKED that will stay in the truck full time and add Uptop bed rack w/ RTT and gear when I go adventuring. I opted for Cooper ST Maxx's in 265/75/16, this is my 3rd truck to run them and I have never been disappointed in them. They are a 32 inch tire so no need for chopping mounts/welds/plastic. The tires went on a couple of weeks ago before I started on the suspension, I don't have any rub at all. The perfomance differance between 32 and 33 isn't going to be much. Suspension AND tires I was under 4K. I highly recommend Hotshot Offroad.

Look at Dobinson suspension. Have mine for a couple months now. Change out the leaf pack to a heavy duty one. They are underdogs as fox and kings get all the love.

If you plan on adding a bunch of weight with accessories and really want the best ride for those long trips, you really cant beat some Tuned shocks. Off the shelf shocks may or may not work for your needs, but for that new of a truck, it's well worth the investment for a good suspension setup. If you want something that will last, can be tuned and offers a premium ride with all that added weight, I would probably look at expanding your budget to around 5-6k. Keep in mind these higher end shocks are serviceable, and most shops that can rebuild shocks can service these and have no issues getting parts. If you have any specific questions, feel free to shoot us a message, happy to help.

Thanks for the advise. Looking at the suggestions. I'll be reading up on the Tuned shocks.
