I'm thinking about doing mine in a sand color. How was the process?

Long. I will never bitch about the cost of bodywork again. I used an elec orbital, 80 grit... it just takes forever, then 3 more hours masking everything. I'm happy with it, the contrast with the glass and plastic is pretty cool. It shine's almost gray under parking lot lighting, nearly black in low light and green in nice light. I used the gun that came with the kit. Got a compliment at the gas station. I ordered a nice bug deflector, might put nerf bars back on it. Maybe a bull bar... lot of work though. BUT whole thing cost me less than 500 bucks.

Awesome! On my list for the 1st gen. Did you do all the prep in your garage there?

Yeah. If you do it, use acid etc primer for bare spots, wear gloves. (I had none, god knows how long it will take to wear off) It took all 8 bottles. If you remove the door handles as I did, mask the inside of the door. I spaced it and dusted my seats, but, that is an excellent excuse for seats from an SR5.

Looks like a lot of good work. I had an 80 the same color. Love that color. Are you going to put badges/stickers back on? When I had mine painted I opted not to put any stickers back on (TRD, V6, 4x4, etc..) - incognito.
