Low-end acceleration jumps & pulses ...???

    Hi, seeking ideas here.

I accidentally left my ignition on for a couple days - completely draining the battery. Upon recharging my acceleration is now pretty messed up.

When driving slowly, like through a parking lot - or anytime where I want to barely touch the pedal, the acceleration will jump strongly -- and if I keep it barely engaged it'll actually pulse with a period of about 2 seconds. Feels normal for regular driving/accelerating - only happens when I'm barely touching the pedal. It's somewhat dangerous and definitely embarrassing to jerk through a parking lot....

Prior to my f*ck-up I was running a KDMAX tune (premium) installed a couple years ago. I'll probably try to re-install the tune today, but I'm wondering if I may have physically harmed something somewhere.

I couldn't possibly be the first person to experience this, but having trouble finding anything similar on TW - seems like most acceleration issues are from clogged injectors....

    Ideas appreciated.

When your battery drained the ecu reset. Your truck will relearn your driving habits and it should smooth out.
I don't know what an ecu reset does to a kdmax or ott tuned one.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Drive for 3 minutes not allowing the throttle to close. Pull over let truck idle 3 minutes with foot off throttle. Repeat 3x. Maybe

Learned values cannot be reset from battery disconnect or loss of power. It would have to be something else.

The throttle memory gets reset, the best way to fix this or prevent is to clean the throttle.

Also when you reconnect the battery next time, just click to on, let it sit for 10 seconds then start it.

Yes, the learned values are stored in non-volatile memory. Honestly, it's surprising everything isn't these days. Would make battery swaps or replacements much easier.

If you're still on the oldest version of the tune from years ago, the highest throttle tune (sport) can be pretty choppy! But if you reverted to the stock tuning, yeah, like stated already, the ECU likely has learned values causing your issue. If that's the issue (very likely) there is nothing to worry about. Just need an ECU reset or better yet, upgrade to the KDMax v10.0. You'll be pleased. And yeah, clean the throttle body too - it's good practice every 30-40k miles on almost any vehicle.

Thanks - I didn't realize the tune had come that far along - I'll be upgrading!
