Shim From Headlight Replacement

    Hi

    I changed my headlights over the weekend and a metal shim fell out. The dealership replaced my headlights years ago under warranty. Would they have used a metal shim? I'm clueless where the shim came from.

    I'm assuming this is a second generation Tacoma you're talking about? If so, the factory headlight housings do not use shims. If, however, the truck was ever in a front-end collision and repaired, all bets are off.

    That looks like an alignment shim to me. As in suspension alignment. I don’t even think Tacomas use them, but on old Chevys you would use that between the upper control arm and the frame to adjust camber.
