I've connected an sb175 1g jumper to my truck and I'm just trying to confirm my thinking on its usage is mostly accurate. So it's primarily for jumper cables that are already pre-made with an sb175. Firstly, this eliminates the ability to do red/dead and whatnot so am I correct in thinking that I can attach red/black to the dead vehicle with both sb175s disconnected and then mate them together? Or mate them first and then do red/black to dead?

Secondly, should the jumper ground be direct to the neg terminal or ground spot on the vehicle? Typical jumper cable instructions say not to use the neg terminal on donor vehicle.

Thirdly, can I use any gauge wire mated with an sb175 connector if it's all significantly less amperage/wattage than what jumping a car would be? Example: replacing 12-14g wire with alligator clips from air compressor to, say, 10g with sb175?

Also, I can't be certain what the connector actually is but it has to be one of the highest, no?

Always connect to negative last to avoid a hydrogen spark, in which case if one side has the anderson connectors I'd use the standard alligators to connect last at the jumpering vehicle end. do not jumper to a ground spot go right to the negative, otherwise you will create extra current in the cables if the connection between chassis and battery negative isn't clean.

Third...you can always replace cable with something of higher amperage (lower guage), it'll never hurt anything other than your wallet.

On either or both? The reason I ask is because all documentation I've seen for any jumper cable says the opposite and in the case of our fleet trucks, the negative is a frame bolt as the battery is under the seat with a positive terminal under the hood

You can do as you wish but if the jumper cables reach, it's always better to go straight to the source (battery terminals). Vehicle manufacturers put that in the manuals so that dumbasses don't short circuit the terminals across each other or accidently swap the cables.
