This thing has been kicking around in my glove box for I don't know how many years. Looks like it has some "keep it from bursting into flames" material on it, I figure maybe it's important? My guess would be it's from the knuckle heads who did A/C work on my truck a while back. Man those guys half-assed everything, yet another case of "I should have done this myself but I didn't have time" biting me in the ass.

Kind of looks like the triangular covers for your mirrors on the door panels?

But I believe they had foam, not jute inside them.

    Sail panels.

Previous owner may have added that material for sound deadening.

Nope, not sail panels on the front doors; those are a little longer, smoother and, as @RedManRocket astutely pointed out, have foam backing:

Throw it away and you’ll find out what it is because you’ll need it at some point. At least that’s what happens to me.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
The same type of piece from a different Model.

Sourced and found to be the wrong size living in the glove box ever since.

It’s definitely for the mirror covers but probably for another vehicle.

Only other thing I could think would be maybe a trim piece for the sides of the glove box somewhere?

Does it have a part number and a molding date code in the plastic? Almost every Toyota part will.

Nope. I took my super flashlight and pulled the jute off and took a look. There's a raised letter "H" in the plastic that almost looks hand-drawn, and four circles that look like part of the molding process. But nowhere on the piece is any numbers, dates, or other symbols. I was going to check the other piece as well, but now I can't find the damned thing, @Doc2's prophecy may be right now that it's partially lost, I'll find out what it's for.

My gut feeling has always been that this is a trim piece that lives under the dash somewhere, left in the door pocket by the totally lazy and incompetent shit head mechanic at "American Auto Air and Repair" in Reno, NV... who also broke all the clips off of my front grill and just kind of set it in place and hoped I wouldn't notice, and who also failed to align the condenser drain to its exterior firewall exhaust port thereby creating a pool of water in my front-passenger footwell that molded up my carpet real good, and then the shitty management didn't bother to respond to the hand-written letter I sent them. Not that I'm bitter or anything.

Maybe I'll dig thru a parts catalog. It's really driving me crazy.

Perhaps it's this? I don't really want to open the doors to find out if they are missing. But I'll keep 'em in the glove box until next time I gotta do it and update this thread, if nothing else.

Part 67492-AD010 "Door Trim Molding, Garnish Front Door Lower"

Kinda looks like it. I wish I had a better picture.

I think the part# you gave there is exactly what you're saying it's not.

Do the two pieces fit together? Looks like one has male parts and the other has female parts.

A quick search on e-bay has that part number as your mirror cover again….and it’s $35 ! Apparently our trucks are worth 100,000 if we part them out …..

You're probably onto something in the HVAC system, @goffredo. Likely subassemblies not available separately and thus without individual part numbers, produced by a supplier to Tacomas like Delphi who supply similar gear to other marques.

1st Gen Tacomas don’t have cabin filters. Only 05 & newer
