    Thank you for this.

If you're careful, you can remove just the A/C controls and barely insert a SD card into the slot without fully removing the head unit.

Also, if you're looking to buy one of these, reach out to Joying before purchase - it's worth the $55 to get the upgraded chipset and Android 12.

So I just installed the Joying 11.6 in my 2009. After 2 days of trying to get the dash trim clips to hold the unit tighter to the dash, tried different size clips (they did not work), tried tape on the bezel protrusions (no change still slight movement) I drilled small pilot holes and used 2 inch drywall screws, just tightened them to secure the bezel to dash, I did not crank them all the way down. The heads protrude slightly but with the screen on you cannot see them at all and they don't touch the back of the screen It tightened it securely to the dash. No issues on normal roads, have not been off-road yet so I can't attest to that but it is now tight to the dash now with NO squeaks or movement at all.

Greetings. I've been using a $49 Audiovox backup camera w/monitor for about 5 years to monitor my utility trailer when hauling motorcycles during road trips. I have the camera (with a bracket for mounting on a license plate) mounted inside of my camper shell, while the monitor is placed in the cubby below the AC controls. Now I'm wanting to utilize that cubby for something else and get a backup camera that will work with my Joying head unit.

Reading back a few pages on this thread, I noticed that on post #1260 https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2nd-gen-joying-head-unit-thread.706997/page-63#post-28994954 @Naveronski listed a couple of cameras that will work with Joying head units.

Does anyone have either one of these or suggestions for other backup cameras that will plug and play with Joying head units? Also, I have my current backup camera wired to a toggle switch. I would like to have the new backup camera work anytime I want to view it and not just in (or at all) in reverse. Is this possible?

    TIA!

Which Joying Head Unit do you have? Go on the Amazon Joying section and see if their current cameras are compatible with the chipset in your Joying unit. If so the easiest fix (I just did this last week) is to order the camera from Amazon. I think the rear camera is $25 ish. If you have one of the latest Joying head units, the cameras are plug and play. I did both they work great and the quality is better than the aftermarket camera I was trying to adapt.

Just buy the Joying AHD backup cam on Amazon. It's like $20. I have a couple of extras if in denver area

What does the plug look like for your current camera? Do you want to keep using it?

I have a baby monitor, and I realized that it uses the same connector as the Joying cameras.

But yes, with the head unit, I can open both cameras (front and rear) whenever I want.

I have the 8" with knobs, which they don't carry any longer. The back of the headunit looks pretty much like the first picture, but my headunit has a hard wired USB that I drew in on picture #2, along with the two USB ports that are highlighted in red.

You might want to email them to see if their current cameras work with that unit. From what I found on the joying website when I was looking a few weeks ago the current cameras are made to pair with the current chipset they are using in the latest units.

Is there anywhere in the settings that shows the specs or model number? And yes, I will email them. Thanks!

I used that for the USB dash cam that joying has. Allows you to view live and recorded dash cam video on the headunit. The other two USB's are for 1) OTG USB is for Android Auto/Carplay and 2) Normal USB use

Good to know that I could use that one for a dash cam and maybe retire the Apeman dash cam that I'm using now. Does it record on the head unit itself or to a SD card?
Right now I have music on one and some old movies on the other.

    Thanks for the info!

There's an SD slot in the dashcam itself. But in the HU dashcam app, you can change where you want it to store.

Thanks for the info. I like the idea of storing it where you want. I found the CPU info in my settings. It is a Octa Core system and UIS7862 system radio, so for now it looks good to go. I will do a little more research before actually placing an order for the dash cam and back up camera from Amazon.

That's not the "dash cam". Go on Joyings website and get the correct dash cam part number. It will look like a traditional dash cam.

Joying replied a couple of days and confirmed the backup camera will work with my unit, so I orderd the camera which came in yesterday. This morning I did some testing before doing an actual install. The camera does not work with my unit. I tried as they illustrated for wiring with a canbus using the back wire/red wire setup, got nothing. I then tried the illustration for wiring for no canbus. I used the power & toggle switch from my old setup, but still nothing. I'm getting 12v back to the red plug that fits into the pigtail off the camera. I also went into setting and set the backup camera to AHD.

Am I missing something? Input would be appreciated. TIA
