My wife's 2001 Tacoma 4x4 standard cab needs new tires. She wants Cooper tires, but we're having a hard time finding the 265/70R16 which her truck came with when new.

I can get her 265/75R16 installed today. They are slightly taller and MPH is not much of a difference until at highway speeds. Who is running that size and do you regret it, or did you find no noticeable difference compared to the factory 265/70R16?

Yes, GovCo broke supply chains. None of the wholesale clubs have either size in stock of Coopers and would need to be ordered. Same with Discount Tire, which is one of the better tire shops in the area doesn't have either size or they only have 2 of an acceptable style. Pep Boys, which I don't like has great prices this weekend doesn't have a set of 4 on anything other than car type tread patterns.

I’d only suggest it for off-roading or looks, otherwise stick to stock.

A better alternative is 245 75 16, it’s the same diameter as stock but a little more narrow.

I was able to find a set of decent tread Cooper in OEM size at a Walmart not too awfully far away. Not sure what is going on wall the other stores in the Charlotte NC area but most stores need to order them, or they have car tread styles in stock.

I ran 265/75/16 on my 02 for years and years. Loved it! Looks visually like what the truck should have come with stock. Mpg and speedometer differences were negligible in my experience. It did rub the plastic fender liner slightly in reverse at full lock but it didn’t hurt the tires or the liner or the truck. I’m sure i could have easily fixed the rubbing but it never became a priority.

Well, Walmart canceled my order. Apparently their online inventory stinks because it showed ready for install earlier today and this evening it changed to canceled. Jerks couldn’t even bother to pick up the phone and call or text. If I hadn’t checked checked the app I probably would’ve gone there in the morning.
