    I'm still undecided myself. Speaking strictly of weight I'm planning to go with the 9.5-10k variety instead of 12k which feels like overkill to me. Had my eye on the Seal slim Gen2 9.5rs for a while but not sure if it's worth the extra coin over other options.

    Oh I really never thought about the weight. The Seal slim is definitely a great option. I’m leaning towards a little overkill 12k

    weight of an 8k-12k (most 12k's) is negligible. In most cases the gear reduction is the differentiator on the 8, 10, and 12k versions of the same winch in a product line. That also means the 8k pulls faster at no load and the 12k will pull a little faster under load in most cases. I usually run 10k winches myself, with the Warn VR Evo being my recommendation.
