Does anyone know if the Toyota Connect Services especially Destination Assist and Dynamic Navigation are tied to the factory head unit?

I've upgraded to a new head unit and have been debating about putting the factory head unit with GPS up for sale but am not sure if the new owner decides to activate those units (not even sure if they can or not) that it would somehow tied back to my account/truck.

Guess I am not really sure how that works anyway

I'd go with the old try asking someone at the service department who has a clue. With jeep wrangler jk head units you need the original code tied to the car for it to work in another wrangler. Not sure if toyota does anything like that.
