2023 Tacoma bed light on cab

I recently bought a new 2023 access cab. I bought the bed light kit (lights go in the bed at the rear). There was no in cab switch in the kit so I bought it separately. The wiring was all in the truck. It works. My question is a lot of the earlier trucks have a white bed light paired with the 3rd brake light. I have not been able to find it addressed anyplace if it is prewired to use the earlier brake light (or if there is a pert number from 2023) on the newer truck. Most of the little parts I have bought are not listed to work on the new truck, but everything I have bought for a 21 or 22 has fit.

Yes the bed/ cargo light that is paired with the 3rd brake light. Is the wiring there that goes from the light to the switch. Can I buy a replacement 2021 light and will it plug into the 2023.

 

It's an access cab vs double cab thing. Double cabs have a clear lamp with 4 red led dots for the 3rd brake. The ends are two white lights for cargo/bed. The access cab has a 3-bulb red lens incandescent lamp with no cargo illumination.

The two are not interchangeable, you are stuck with what you have or replacement eBay garbage. I'd stick to what you have. the factory double cab light's cargo portion is not bright at all anyways.

 

I did the same as you did,but i didnt put the switch in mine.just jumped wires at the plug so the bed lights come on when the doors are unlocked or the door is opened...i dont know about the 3rd brake/cargo light
