I was absolutely being sarcastic, there is no parking problem. I’ll just never understand why some short bed owners always say parking sucks on a LB. My guess is they can’t park to begin with and would be better off in a Corolla. I park in a congested lot every single day and never once has it “sucked”. It’s got mirrors and a camera. If you can’t park a long bed Tacoma, don’t ever buy a full size real truck.

My point exactly. Having come from a much shorter Jeep, I don't find my DCLB harder to park than any other truck, but definitely easier than parking a full size truck for sure.

Won't fit in my garage, and parking at home is still parking.

I know there's no issue with the DCLB, just like people drive full size, super dutys, etc. as daily drivers. Just not for me.

I'll say, the extra foot of wheelbase and bed is a negligible issue compared to the extra $8,000. I only mentioned the parking to remind that not everything is a positive with the DCLB.

You could argue payload too, but they all suck, lol.

Except that even after you’ve paid off that extra $8k you’re still stuck with a sh!tty turn radius lol

I’m leaving the OP’s question out of it because I have no idea of the interest rate on his previous car loan and therefore don’t know if the offered 5% interest is a positive or negative move.

My question is more to the value proposition of a Tacoma long bed. I understand that some people really like them, and I can see their value in some situations, but to me the Tacoma is more of a “homeowner” / “lifestyle” truck, not a work truck. A 5’ bed with bed extender is adequate for my needs.

If I wanted a truck that was 225.5 inches long, why not go for a Supercrew F150 that is only 6 inches longer, but with a bigger cab, and much more towing and payload capacity? (or pick the full sized truck of your choice). If I’m going to deal with living with a big(ish) truck, I might as well have big truck capabilities.

My favorite Toyota truck was my old 2001 Tundra with the 4.7 V8. It was shorter than a current long bed Tacoma (by 8 inches) and had greater payload and towing capacity. It was a near perfect blend of size and capability.

~ 9 grand to trade up. IMO not worth it.

2 valid points. I've moved people in my 5ft bed, without issue.

And more importantly, my truck just fits in my garage

It looks fine - I'm old and I am not emotional about vehicles, assuming you are not either. If the truck is want you want and it is within your means - not going to have any noticable burden on you financially - then make the deal. I believe you offer what you think is fair and then keep it to yourself and walk away and use the vehicle. There was a time in my life I spent hours and hours trying to get the best deal, talking to everyone I could. Now I am usually in and out within and hour or so - not worth my time - heck I may not be here much longer and I'm not spending it with a salesman.

As for if you should get the 4th Gen or stick with the known 3rd...I actually have a deposit and waiting on a 3rd Gen Pro. I absolutely love my 2019 and while the 4th Gen has a lot of appeal, I never purchase the first 1-3 years of a new vehicle. The 3rd Gen is a wonderful vehicle for me. I currently have just under 250K trouble free miles on my truck - it's why I'm getting another.

If you think you want a 4th Gen, then wait a bit and get it, if you like the 3rd and what it offers for your lifestyle - then there is your answer. This is just a vehicle - get what will serve your needs best and go enjoy life. Good luck!

    - Because no F-150s are going to fit down the trails I take. If you have ever tried to drive ANY F-150 down a tight trail VS an LB I dont think you wouldn't be asking that question, I can factually tell you that. There is no way Id be fitting any full size truck where I tend to drive.
    - Having owned a fullsize for a short time, the difference in width and slight difference in length along with fuel economy VS most Tacomas dont even put that choice in the same ballpark for me
    - Ive also used a bed extender for a short time...........a VERY shot time. That thing had to be the most unhandy, clumsy, PITA thing to use of any accessory Ive ever had for a pickup. Having to deal with that thing in the way every time I wanted to carry anything of any normal size, not to mention when the tailgate was actually needed, was enough to put a normal sized bed on my must have list.

Its amazing how many "reasons" people come up with why they wouldn't own an LB without actually ever owning one.

I've had many vehicles from Corollas to land yachts. As far as pick ups from F250 Ford 3/4 ton long bed, Tacoma DCLB and Tacoma DCSB. I will never have a long bed truck again. However you should get what you need first and close second what you want and can realistically afford. Again just my opinion.

That's 30 grand financed at a new rate (including 9k for the net delta)... for not much more than a new color.

It's cheaper to have the old truck wrapped. Just saying.

A net loss of 4500 per year is not bad at all, the olden days of car buying we lost that just "moving her off the lot"

I missed it, whats the current mileage on your truck? if its over 30k then i would think this is a nice worthwhile upgrade.

I would say the downside is the higher financing rates, higher price of vehicle, otherwise its just a little money.

Every time one of these threads gets started I fasten my seat belt and watch as most responding forget what the OP asked in the first place. He asked if the deal sheet he posted shows a decent deal (price of the new vehicle and trade in value), not for a Personal Finance 101 lecture. Everyone has their own thoughts on how to handle their finances, and that's great....for you. Let's keep them to ourselves and confine our answers to what the OP asked.

Try parking a Tundra four door with an 8 foot bed then you can talk about parking a land barge!

Because a Supercrew F150 is close to $60K while this truck he is looking at it $43K.

$599 for Zaktek would be the deal breaker for me. Essentially you are giving the dealer $1100 in extra profit with that nonsense and processing fee. Your interest rate isn't bad considering the current environment. The one thing that would stop me is you are getting the last of the current version. Next year a new truck comes out and your truck is basically the same as one 6 years older. I personally would wait.
