The new ones are replica plates of that by-gone era you remember. One of the state reps was a vintage car buff and wanted new plates for his vehicle that matched the year of its manufacture, so he introduced legislation to allow for the yellow on black (60s), yellow on blue (70s), and black on yellow (50s). Only the yellow on blue and the yellow on black got enough people to agree to pre-buy; the black on yellow didn't.

I’ll have to see if there is a similar process here. I know I really like the black and yellow plates that California has too. They’re simple and I like that on a plate.

Probebly the same salt brine the state started using here a few years ago. The road are always wet with it. It doesn't dry up like the old salt. And it's just as corosive.

Yes, I’m hoping I’ll be fine.

I coated the surface shield on real thick, and with these warm temps I’m hoping it’s creeping around real nice and good like right now.

Colorado recently offered a set of retro plate designs. The black ones are showing up EVERYWHERE.

as an aside, BC was experimenting with syrup (beet based) instead of brine. Not sure how well it worked though I know most contractors still use brine. MgCl is preferred because it is less harmful to roadside plants but they will use CaCl if that is what the supplier has. They also treat the sand they put on the roads with brine. Brine is also used for dust suppression on dirt roads.

Gave it a good scrub, took a couple of hours to get off 2,400 KM of road grime, bugs and Alberta gumbo, when that stuff dries, it's like concrete

Haven't done anything further on my rock lights install as it is too hot and I have no shade. I need to order another kit anyway so that I can have the switch they supply with. I cant use the switch I got because well, I already explained that. Going to just use the wiring kit that it comes with and if it melts the switch like it says it will on the box, then I guess rip it all out and start over with a better kit. Really annoyed that Cali harness with relay won't work with these lights. I even tested the relay and could hear it trigger like it is supposed to. Doesn't actually supply power to the kit side of the wiring though. - In other news, been driving only my truck now since my Mini Cooper decided to crack the head and grenade on me, and my VW GTI (my little built car project/money pit) is still at the shop for clutch replacement, so I'm not driving that either obviously. Miles on the truck are racking up fast :(

yeah he didn’t hit me that hard I was stopped at a red light. It was a small Kia cadenza that’s how it missed my bumper. I thought it was worse until I hopped out to look. Maybe I should have reported it, but The kid was driving his gfs car and she was distracting him so he bumped me. He admitted to not having insurance, told me I could call my insurance or whatever I wanted to do offered me money so I took it. Didn’t seem ruining his life or something that caused no damage.

Ok, this one is slightly complicated, but I got my version of “ECT auto ON” working. Is how mine works is like this: The switch pictured below is a dual momentary switch. The bottom button works just like a regular ECT button, so it turns it on/off whenever you want. The top button is what cycles the auto-on function. So press it once and the ECT turn on automatically 60 seconds after ignition. The 60s is an arbitrary number, I can program it for whatever. Press the top button again and it will no longer turn it on automatically. The bottom button will still cycle it on/off regardless of the state of the top button.

I remember black on yellow too, but that was before I could drive. Nice to have a little nostalgia.
