As you can see from the picture of my re-route, the guy kept the tube width consistent and just ran the pipe flat and back-beyond the transfer case. Any heat insulation to protect the transfer case must be on the outside of the tailpipe. Inside insulaltion at the pinch-point does not keep heat from the remainder of the tailpipe leeching heat to the outside of the pinch-point.

Reducing the tailpipe diameter seems to be to be a problem for reducing efficiency of at least 1 side of the engine. Those cylinders will not evacuate as quickly as the other side.

the way its cut im not sure the inner tube could of been removed and the way its welded it would have been impossible to reweld the inner tube. if thats the case then the already most restrictive part of the exhaust just got even more restricted.

That makes sense. I'm guessing that this rattle I recently started getting is related to the tube on the inside... It didn't rattle when they first did the work so I'm not sure what happened. I'm removing and selling all the armor on my truck since I have a dedicated wheeling rig now. I'll reach out to the shop to have them fix it.

Kick ass. I have what readily appears to be the same issue. Getting the flange sealed up now. Also adding a hanger to my reroute.
Glad to hear you got your issue resolved.

My version of that code was not so simple ;) The muffler shop cut the supports on the driver sides next to the t-case and didn't reweld them which eventually caused a crack in the drivers side cat flange weld. Whole cat had to be replaced.

Got mine done today in Manhattan KS. I’am slightly concerned on how close he got it to the actuator. I ordered a heat should for it. Paid $169

Wrap that exhaust with exhaust wrap for sure, I used to use it on motorcycle exhaust all the time.

Too damn close. This is mine after a locally-recommended shop did it ... definitely wrap but I would ask they move it back away from the actuator like my shop did.

I would want it further away than that. I bet that heat shield will barely fit in between the two.

I assume you are stationed at Ft. Riley?

How does that other person expect the actuator can be serviced without cutting the new exhaust pipe out?
