I decided to knock a little rust off the frame and treat it, but didn't expect
this when I was done. Thought it was just surface rust.
Contacted Toyota, nothing they will do since its past 12 years ( mines a 2009 )
I'm looking into getting it welded with a local company that does toyota frames.
Using SafeTCap Frame Repair Kit, any body done this or a suggestion, I'm in Massachusetts

    thanks Woody

I did Saf-T-Caps (front sections) and they are a quality product. A shop that specializes in Toyotas should have no problem doing a good job installing.

Check the inside mid sections of your frame for separation of the layered pieces. If they have started (and I'd bet they have) consider having the mid section Saf-T-Caps put on at the same time if it's in your budget.

If you want to go the extra mile, wire wheel and treat the frame sections that the Caps are going over. Get it as clean as you can and then use Amsoil HDMP, Cosmoline, or similar on the frame so that any salt that does make its way between the cap and the frame won't continue the rot from the inside.

Also ask your installer to close up any holes in the cap by running a bead along the edge of the hole - again, to prevent moisture/salt ingress between the parts.

Something else to consider - if they will be lifting the cab slightly to get access for welding the top edges, you might as well have them replace the body mount bushings at the same time.

I’ve used safe t caps, the preparation is critical and after it must be rustproofed inside. The pieces are well made but will disintegrate fast if left untreated.

Make sure they’re going to cut all the rotted crap off and do a thorough rust proof inside and out!
    Good luck !!!!

Is there a way to clean out the inside of the rocker panels before you spray rust inhibitor inside them ? Thanks for any reply or links.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
This estimate might be much higher then your thinking.

If you start plan on doing the whole frame not a section here and there.

    Good Luck!

It might be cheaper to find a good frame and get 4 friends to help you swap everything over.
