    I drive a Miata.

Honestly I don't know. I'm fairly sure I'm in the minority when I say I despise pretty much everything about the 4G with possible exception to what's under the hood. I can't get over the horrid interior and weird body lines.

I must not be the target demographic as my next truck will be something that's not a Tacoma, and that's purely on looks (and probably price) alone.

That's just me. Everyone else seems to love it.

As you say to each their own. Just too many angles, holes, and "busy". Keeping it clean?

As a fan of molle... just not there on the door. Not sure what molle-based stuff I could fit mounted there against my leg once the door is closed?

I agree with where that might be in the "responded with" engineering cycle. Then the above image / design needed to go back to the focus groups and say "is this what you were after?". My statement was pretty much questioning did it come back (final) approved this way, or is it still in itteration phase and needs the next redesign and group showoff. If so, I wouldn't put it out at a car show like that. I'd walk away and think of looking at something more eye appealing.

Besides general looks, looks like a defective transformer styling wise.

Why not bring back a no frills, basic (safety req's only) Reg Cab, reg bed 4x4 truck with 4cyl or 6cyl and the rest just leave alone at a decent price.

I'm with you, had every gen, may skip this one and move to I hate to say it a Ford (raptor 21+) or 2018-2021 Tundra, cannot get to make myself like the new Tundra, this new Tacoma is hard on the eyes inside and out despite all the nice small design thoughts that will be welcomed by many.

Because the majority wouldn't buy it. That's a niche truck that wouldn't sell like the dolled up ones do.

So, actually NOT trying to :stirthepot:... really! Discussion....
But seriously in just a few minutes here we have an amount replying to just this one post that aren't in love with the upcoming styling. I also find the whole thing busy looking / transformer-ish, which I've not liked in many vehicles lately. Which comes back around to (IMO) the original topic of giving customers what they asked for. To me it seems like the new taco will look more like what the hardcores on here WOULD like, and that's ok! But as people point out, TW is more the niche society, so who is the new space age design trying to appeal to?

I think it will turn off more traditional customers, who may(?) have been more included in the focus groups. Like asked before, who on here has ever been on a Toyota focus group? I can almost guarantee the couple current late model Taco owners I have on my rural road would not want the body styling or playstation screen glued to the dash. Still trying to gauge what hardcore but non-niche demographic the new design is for....

    JMO - no harm intended.

No money in it for Toyota. They're in it to make money, remember? And it's about what they can sell not what we want!

The ONLY issue I have with that is no room behind the seats (need me at least an AC). My GF wouldn't like riding in the bed because I wouldn't move all my regular gear kept in the cab off the front seat for her.:ballchain::rofl:

Let me ask you a question... and be as specific as you can with your answer please. What is your opinion on improving the 3rd gen glove box hatch latch?

Power tailgate now I think(?) Am also not a fan of this. Stop putting motors everywhere creating additional electrical failure points!
With my luck activating the tailgate would be added to the things that magically reset the music list on my HU...

Wrong answer. If people actually wanted a no frills pickup truck, Toyota could do it and make money. There is no demand, therefore there is no supply. Demand always comes before supply.

And this part "And it's about what they can sell not what we want!" is silly. They asked you what you wanted (you being a big demographic) and they are building it for you and will be selling it to you!

Just because the "hardcores" like the design doesn't mean that it doesn't also appeal to the regular buyer. Look at the latest iteration of the 4Runner. At launch it was radical and polarizing. A couple years later it is everywhere and generally well received. Toyota knows that having nice numbers on paper will win the "bigger is better" buyer, having the word hybrid anywhere in the brochure will win the virtue signalers, the giant screen will get them the "it needs more features" group, and the "trail ready" trims will win them the mall crawlers. They are covering the majority of sectors. Nobody ever gets 100% of the potential buyers but if they can partially appeal to 80%, while also meeting the EPA and safety requirements, they will sell.

No. I despise it. It is not a truck anymore. It has become a "lifestyle vehicle." I will either buy a truck or a new Land Cruiser lol. I like those things.

You need a big ol' asterisk on that "demand comes before supply" bit. Demand means precisely dick unless it meets regulations. There is plenty of demand that goes unanswered purely because it's not allowed.

If Toyota listened to TW every tacoma would come with an ECGS bearing and a 32oz cup holder.
