That sticker is True North Tacomas FB group.

I'm an admin on True North Toyota Trucks and I can barely navigate FB, other than marketplace.

Edit: Note the sticker in my sig. (which I can't even remember how to modify)

Finished off 2 weeks going across Canada to Alberta!
Drove the 35 hours camping on crown land, as well as the highway, yes thats right the highway ( there was a major accident so stayed till 3 am) to get to Calgary which led us to Banff and Jasper. If you've never been, you have to go. The mountains are unbelievable, such a great atmosphere. Before leading up to the trip we had lots of thinking and planning and more thinking to do. Having a tonneau cover, we had to design brackets that would slip under the cover and support the bed rack. After searching around, we found two companies that made them, neither one compatible. So I designed my own. Did they work? yes. Could they have been better, of course. Trying to find a way to slip 1/8" steel under the rails and not have it leak is well almost impossible unless you want to pump in a tube of silicone inside. They worked well and I still got to left up the first panel on the cover which I think is pretty valuable instead of crawling on your stomach even further to get to the back of the bed. I did get bed stiffeners. Personally I don't like the stiffeners in general. They take up the corners of the bed which is usually the last items you put into the bed, and when full, it's a pain to have to try to go around them. Definitely a weak point in our trucks. However, I chose the ones from Cali raised as they were on Amazon, came quick and are a good quality build. The tent set up well and performed pretty good, minus some condensation we got inside. ( anyone else experience that?)
I also fabricated two jerry can holders. I used one for water and one for gas. We bolted them onto the rack and had a toggle clasp to keep them shut, and a lock to well lock.
Inside the tent, we bought a mattress topper, were we also purchased two twin sheets which we sew together to make a cover for that can come off to get washed. Well worth it!
We visited Lake Louise, Mourine lake, peyto lake, an moose trail. Did the Banff gondola and a little more.
All in all a great trip. So much wildlife, excellent atmosphere, great hikes and memories that will last forever.

    Pictures or it didn't happen..

you must have had an absolute blast. yeah the mountains in BC are of another world for those who gre up on this side of the flat lands. It's funny since a few years ago i overheard some guy shit-talk the Bancroft area (Eagles nest) that's there are no mountains and it's all just rolling hills. figured he was bullshitting me until i got to the Yukon.

yeah, worth going for a 2-3 week road trip.

Yup, i learned Tonneau covers are pretty shit since you're so forced into what style of cover you have and 9/10 times you're DIYing shit...
    IMG_20221126_142141714.jpg
the L-track i did was totally worth it over the years. if it works, it aint shit lol but why go so far to seal it back up? dont have water-proof totes for back there?

Condensation in a RTT is like saying the sky is blue. I recomment some anti-condensation mats like these; https://www.altroutes.ca/product-category/roof-top-tents/tent-accessories/anticondensation-mats/
    or these;
    https://redbearoutdoors.ca/products/anti-condensation-mat
(red bear styled ones i heard work really well)

Yeah totally true! It’s crazy how massive they are. Same with the Anthabasca glacier. Thing is crazy!

Yeah exactly. I have the bakflip cause I love the idea of being able to have it open in any conversion, except it’s not designed to even work that way. Bad execution on their part. My rack will be coming off soon as with my work I need to be able to get into the bed if my truck from time to time. Trying to waterproof it, I tried about 5 different style gaskets, none actually working but was decent.

Yeah I heard about the mats. That’s for the links. I dono about how they will help for moisture on the ceiling tho. May need to run a small fan possibly

honestly, no idea how the mats help. i dont have a roof top tent either

however i do own this USB Fan from Crappy tire (it was $10 on sale back in C19 days) for the hobo RTT setup.
    IMG_20220628_083700699_HDR.jpg
doesn't need to be full blast but just enough to get air moving around and it's good enough to run all night for 3-4 nights on a single 10000mah powerbank from bluehive (also crappy tire, also for $10)

. alternatively you can get something like this Eva-dry dehumidifier (considrred it before getting the usb fan) to see if it helps. but in my experience, a small USB fan will make a huge difference

I’ll have to try it and see how it goes. In my tent there are two holes in the bottom two corners which is were your store one of the support bars. We used the sleeping bag sacks to plug them at night. I’m thinking I make a patch that stays in place but out of a rubber screen material. Will help keep critters out yet slow more air movement
