When I was mid sized pickup shopping I looked around and I saw tons of old Tacos everywhere, old Rangers, but not so many Colorado/Canyon/S10 etc. nor that many Frontiers either even though I loved the supercharged one with the roof rack as a kid. Even the slightly newer colorado/canyon twins looked rusted out all over the body.

Love my taco and loved the Toyota pickups ever since Back to the Future debuted. She's fun to look at, fun to drive, very functional as I use it as a commuter, junk hauler, home reno, and everything and I still get around 22+ mpg at 75mph. She's not perfect, slow as heck, but I'm not in any rush lol.

Probably the biggest thing I love about her is that I just hop in and drive. No more weekend wrenching on my 20 year old Ranger.

I love mine as well. 2021 SR5 4x4 that I bought brand new…I already have over 41K miles on it. I’ve taken it all over North America and it’s been the perfect vehicle.

    Everyone loves pics right?

I feel the same way about my past Toyota trucks, I wish I had all of them still.

I didn’t research anything else when I bought my Tacoma, every time I thought about anything else, I worried I’d end up regretting it when I saw the Tacoma on the road.

I ended up getting exactly what I wanted, a little bit hard to find on the west coast, it drives like an old school truck, clunky transmission a bit is a Tacoma thing, but if you don’t read the reviews around here it’s not that bad once it learns your driving habits.

    Like they say in Australia:
If you want to go to the outback take a land rover.
If you want to get back take a Toyota.

........ because I've come from a long line of Jeep products and now finally feel like I have a quality dependable product that will last me past 100k if I'm so inclined.

We do go on about our trucks - and rightly so.
    They look good.
Put some Wildpeaks on last week. - really like 'em they feel great and look great.

Built a one-sided platform in the rear passenger side and rigged up a secondary 12v port
to power my Dometic CFX3 35 while the standard port plugs into my brake controller for my camper.

Jackery 1000 Pro will set in the drivers rear side to power the Dometic when the truck isn't running.

Going on a test-drive tomorrow to field-proof-test for an upcoming 11-day adventure into Utah and Colorado.

Cause all it needs are oil changes and air filters.... which technically are optional. Get in and drive. It will get you from point A to point B. Bad shit does happen, but most are just a solid work horse.;)

I like my Tacoma because it's the first vehicle that I've owned that is too tall for me to clean the roof without using a microfiber something at the end of a pole or climbing on the sliders to put chemicals on.

Nice not feeling like the big oaf driving his little clown car.

I’m not super adventurous but I get out. I kayak fish every weekend, and I ride bikes w my wife. My 2006 never let me down so it was natural to stick with Toyota. I bought a new one. Made one payment and decided it wasn’t for me, so I sent the balance. Car payments are gross. I hope the new behaves like the old. New tires for the old truck arrive tomorrow. Just buying Michelin all-seasons for the mpg and longevity.

I love my Tacoma. It’s exactly what I wanted out of a mid sized pickup. I liked it so much I bought my wife a Toyota too (4Runner).

This is my first Toyota and my very first new vehicle ever. Maybe my last new vehicle. Manual trans and absolutely the most enjoyable vehicle I’ve ever owned. I love it because of the places it takes me. I drive full size trucks for work and have a 2022 Silverado extended cab long bed in the driveway now. I despise giant full-size trucks. The Tacoma for me is perfect. I wish you could get the manual in a long bed and I wish mine had a sunroof but outside of that I’d change nothing.

How's the drive up Engineer Pass? I've heard it's fairly challenging. Would a stock Taco make it? I have sliders and a slight lift but nothing really for "serious" rock crawling.

Just added toolbox and roof-rack to haul my fishing boat 100's of miles into the backwoods every week. Goodrich K02s, Bilstein 5100 front and back, no lift.
As far as 4x4s go, 2 Fords and a Mazda before this 2016 which is my first Tacoma. Bought it used when it had only 7k miles on it. I am retired the past 8 years so lots of time for off road.

Loved the other trucks. Countless off road fishing and exploring trips. Never had a single issue with any of them. Just oil changes and brakes when worn. No AC, no power windows, no perks of any kind. Bench seats on 2 of them. Driven hard.

I like the Taco a lot, about 140 off road trips in the 5 years I have owned it, but “love” will happen if after 10 years it is still issue free.

Yes it would make it. The beginning of the trail is really only the tough part. So if you run it backwards you don’t have to do the hard part if you don’t want.

I saw a stock 4Runner doing the tough parts. When we passed each other. There’s some rocks and small ledges. A few off chamber sections but you should be fine.
