Just finished installing lift & tires! She's walking a lil taller

 

I take it you are pleased with your decision. Good sound makes for good times.

 

Took my rtt and rack off. (Selling the rack) Build a roller dolly for the tent and put spacers on rigid fog light kit to point lights out toward ditch more.

 

Nice! The RCI sliders will not disappoint!

 

Smoked turn signals, some sound proofing in the back. I used a pool noodle cut in half for those vents, still allows air flow. And memory foam seat cushion is a game changer, I’ve tried seat jackers but didn’t like them.

 

Just returned from the tire shop after installing some new shoes on my truck.
First time trying out a set of Falken Wildpeak MT 285/70/R17 , purchased from Amazon as they had a great price, free shipping, and I had a gift card to save even a little more.

Tire shop said brake pads are getting low and should be replaced, so that will be my next project. Any suggestions on brake pads other than OEM?

 

@JohnB81, I’ve been installing Akebono pads for years. Long lasting, very little dust and excellent stopping power.

I have used Akebono’s before on my 2nd gen, I’ll look into these again.
I’m also considering the Powerstop Extreme’s but just weighing in on other’s experiences or opinions.

I’ve also installed PowerStop Z26 Extreme calipers, pads, and drilled/slotted rotors on an LS2 Chevy I have. They are great as well, but unless you’re doing some serious mountain hauling, towing and/or auto cross, it’d be overkill for our Tacos IMHO.

 

Also to consider for my application is aftermarket wheels and larger tires vs stock.
Do you prefer ceramic pads or another material?

 

Oh wow, OK, I didn't realize this you made this custom. That is pretty sweet. From the looks of it thought it was off the shelf for sure! Nice work.

 

Again, unless you're putting a huge demand on it, the stock brake system is more than adequate even with upgraded whees, tires, etc. IMHO. I've always found the Akebonos superior to Toyota's OE and the OE are pretty good. Your call of course.

I've tried various compounds over the years, some better than others, some more environmentally friendly than others, but in the long run ceramic pads have always come out on top overall.

Here a couple of photos of my most recent brake job with PowerStop. Probably overkill for my Chevy too, but happened to come across a great package deal, so, well, you know... deal! For our Toyotas and Lexus I've stuck with Akebonos though and they've stuck with me.

Its all over all the film protection on the truck, really it has nothing to do with hands. Its even on the film protection behind rear wheel.
