    Interesting.
Appears that my pan was never removed
the gasket…..that came apart in 15 separate pieces…..had nothing
    But
I’m leaning to Both a gasket (that I paid for(lol)) and FIPG (placed strategically) will be the ticket

1st of all, sorry kwik….let’s just say I was ‘drunk’ with frustration last night
    Always appreciate help/opinions thou

    job done.

took a variety of hints posted by members ……
-bought correct gasket from parts store
Was total guess, 2 vendors said ‘that doesn’t fit’. I took the pan to the store
Success. Even the fel pro package said fits : Toyota 1972-1992
-bc of obvious condition of old fluid, I did add a high mileage additive. CRC transX
-after closer inspection of the pan lip that mates with trans, I saw that the ‘ridge’ on lip was convex. Typically, the pans/valve covers I have encountered the lips were concave. As the original gasket came off, no sign of sealant.
I hypothesized, that if convex, if I put sealant on, would just spread over gasket and cause issues. So no sealant used. The tranny mating surface very easy to clean.
-this filter was lil bit bigger than an index card. Took off, and cleaned with BC.
    Wasn’t clogged at all.

total amt of fluid/additive used was 3.5qts
    No leaks
Correct level after warm up and shifting from P to L2 while engine running

    thanks again gurus
