    That was me.

And the problem turned out to be the electronics in my KEY didn't work anymore.

The fuel pump wouldn't get power without the key functioning. Security system.

    Thanks again, by the way.

FML @TnShooter @Dm93 im about to throw in the hat on this fuel gauge thing. i for the life of me cant figure it out. tested connector behind kick panel, gauge goes up. but go four feet down harness to other connector and nothing. checked tank, nothing. im about to just cut out original wiring and run two new wires from connector to fuel pump at this point.

One of the wires has to be corroded/broken in the harness, look for any spots the harness may have rubbed through on a bracket or something.

Man idk. I'm getting power all the way to tank, getting ground all the way to tank. Backpinned connector and fuel gauge goes up. Replaced sending unit and gauge still doesn't work. Only wierd thing is, I'm getting 12v at tank. I thought according to manual that I was only supposed to get 4-7 v

i ended up locating two bad crimp connectors on wires extensions, so redid those and now have solid connection all the way to tank connector on both hot and ground. but no dice on fuel level rising. back pin them both and touch them together and gauge rises. so now the issue is between tank connector and sending unit? but there isn't really anything between those two points. i swear getting the fuel gauge to work is going to be more difficult then getting the thing running after seven years haha

So if you bridge the terminals at the tank the gauge goes up but it doesn't work with the sending unit plugged in?

Did you check the resistance on the sending unit? Might just be a defective part.

I figured it out. On the new sending unit the tabs that touch the contact board were bent up and not making contact. Bent them down and reinstalled fuel pump and baam. Gas gauge works @Dm93 you are a god among mortals for those Toyota troubleshooting pages you sent me

    He sure is.
He does this stuff every day.

If I have to work on a vehicle once a year. That’s too much.

I just follow the data, if the gauge worked with the terminals bridged but not with the sending unit plugged in it had to be something with the sending unit.

There's plenty people out there that are alot smarter than me with diagnostics, unfortunately they aren't found at your average shop or dealer.

New toy. Works absolutely wonderful for sound system wiring. Got the fuel gauge issue and sound system issues resolved this weekend. No only thing left is to fix the initial stutter on throttle which I think is from exhaust issue. But I'm happy. You guys are awesome again

    That is true.
The better guys are usually found and an independent shop that specializes in one brand.
    Or bands that are similar.

I specialize in “if it works don’t fix it.”
