Just did the diff fluid change on my Tacoma and came up with a cheaper solution if anyone is looking for one.

the Valvoline easy squeeze bags are about $5 more per qt than the standard bottles but they use the same screw top. I bought one easy squeeze bag and a case of the standard bottles which is 12qts.

for $115 on Amazon i ended up with 13qts of oil. Use the bag as your filler to get the oil in easy without needing to spend $20-40 on a pump. Keep refilling the bag with the bottles which takes 20 seconds and rinse and repeat. Easy process and saves you about $100.

for $115 on Amazon I ended up with enough oil for two diff changes.

saves you a little money and you have extra oil if you spill or save it for the next change

    Thanks!
Just by coincidence, I was thinking today about doing a diff /transfer case fluid change... I'd be early - but likely time to start lookng at the fluids people use. I imagine it will be a Sh*t show... Should I ask?

I'll see what threads I can find on the topic.

Actually very easy. Plenty of write ups on here. I only did the diff fluids as the transfer case isn’t scheduled until 60k

Ya at the end of the day you can look at all the brands as various soda pop's rivalling for the best. I have my favourite brands but to be completely honest, unless you tow/haul alot and often and plan to put a million plus miles on, they're all gonna do the same job satisfactory. Two things i'll say about it is
A.) use 75w90 instead of 75w85 because it's easier to find and you're never gonna notice a fuel economy difference between the two.
B.) if you wanna go down a rabbit hole that seemingly never ends and want to spend the rest of your Sunday on the topic, check out Bob is the oil guy (BITOG) for gear oil info too. You'll probably come out of it just as confused and/or unsure what brand you want but it's interesting the depth those guys get into it.

Only if you are willing to sort through the differences of opinion.
I suppose you could ask, study the data (opinions) and make an educated guess.

Or……Pick one and pour it in. (You’ll save time this way.)
