Here are some inside pics for now...and it's pretty great! Honestly, I think some of this is what people are going to get with the '24 Tacoma and Land Cruiser. Toyota is just catching up on the interior side of these trucks.

I have propane and get 2 fills a year, albeit partial. We probably use about 500 gallons a winter. Our heat pump helps to keep the propane off unless it is cold. The cost is higher for heating oil than propane.

Propane produces less BTU than heating oil, albeit propane furnaces are more efficient. It's really about equivalent price per BTU if you do the math. Since my boiler is in good shape there's no point to rip it out to put a propane one in.

Yeah, oil runs hotter. I wouldn't replace something that is running either. We changed ours when our furnace went. With the heat pump I do use about 150 gallons less fuel. I can't say which one is cheaper overall, but right now, in my area, propane is $1.90/gallon versus $3.64/gallon for #2 oil.

    Heating oil has 138,690 BTU/gallon
    Propane has 91,600 BTU/gallon

You will use about 1.5 gallons of propane per gallon of heating oil use.
$1.90 x 1.5 = $2.85 for equal BTU so you are still ahead using propane.

Oil furnaces generally get about 82-83% efficiency where as modern propane furnaces start about 93% and can hit 96% for the upper range ones, that helps the price too. :)

A few great things about oil though:
If you have a decent understanding of how the burner works and keep a few parts you can almost always get them running.
When times are tough you can buy kerosene or diesel fuel 5 or 10 gallons at a time and keep the heat going.

My primary heat is actually a pellet stove. I have the oil for backup/if I'm out of town. I probably used less than 50 gallons of fuel last year.

On the downside pellets are going way up in price as well. I think I paid $280 a ton last year and they're $320 a ton this year.
