Anyone here done a setup to their 2nd Gen to pull a scraper behind their truck? I've seen a video of a truck having a setup to scrape off snow but I need a setup to take down sand to hard pack after a major rain deposits about 4-8" of loose/soft sand to my Hacienda in the desert, which is not a problem for my 4x4 but getting my street bike out to pavement is another matter. So far this product seems best to attach the blade to but what blade to attach to it I have not come up with.

Has to pull/tow and rubber edge would be out of the question. Thanks though.

Have something in the works. Will post pics and a review of setup when I have it together.

    Good start !!

Your going to need at least one hydraulic cylinder to keep downward pressure or in sand it will just float on the surface . Most normal 3 point hitch scrapers have down ward pressure. The ones I used over the years.

Not like pushing or scraping snow at all .

Then there are so many different types of sand in your sand it might work as is.

    Good luck .

For the most part it has been working great for my needs. There are a couple of sections on the approximately 1/2 mile sand road that weight is needed. Watched one video with someone adding a piston for downward pressure on a 3 point hitch but way out of my league to accomplish. Going to try placing a wheel/rim over the pin at the top that adjusts/pivots the angle of the blade and set a couple of kettle bells in it as a short term solution. Thinking of having someone weld a thick piece of rebar or 2 and 90 it off the blade near the top so that it sticks straight up and place some dumbbell weights onto it that way to add weight. The only regret so far is a 7’ blade would have been the better choice but the additional $200 for it placed it out of my budget.

A shame you can not weld it makes these projects so much easier.

Maybe time to learn to weld?? It would be simple to to widen your blade with your new skills.

Since the Electric 12VDC hydraulic pumps have improved adding hydraulics to a truck is rather simple.

As long as it gets the job done!

:welder:Agreed. Something I’ve thought about for the past 3 years. Along with a Ham Radio Op permit. And…….and……and!!! This could be the kick in the arse that’ll get er done. Hana Ho.

Just recently moved to Joshua Tree, CA. and am looking for a solution to sand roads myself. Have been pulling a 7' i-beam at various angles trying to push the beach sand off to the side of the single lane road.

Perhaps something of a V shape would be better ? an i-beam in a V shape rather than straight ?

i would prefer to buy something that attaches to a rear trailer hitch with no power / hydraulic .

even if i could mount the snowplow blade in reverse to pull the sand (and at an angle) as in the videos !

any solution to the sand road dilemma would be greatly appreciated. i'm trying to get to a firm surface so i can ride my harleys down the 1 1/2 mile beach sand i have to drive to get to pavement. HELP !

p.s. not using a tacoma. using a suzuki 4WD suv as a workhorse.

Well I certainly know your "pain" as I'm just down the road from you in 29, especially after Hilliary. My setup works great as long as the hard pack is 6-8" below the loose stuff. I weight the blade down with sand bags if necessary. However there are some places where I really need a bucket to scoop the stuff out. The question then becomes renting something from HD or purchasing a small tractor. Or in my case, taking a flat head shovel through those spots to clear a path just wide enough to get my bile through that section. :benchpress: PM me if you like.
