I'm new to the boating world. I have a manual 6 speed 09 toyota tacoma 4x4 access cab. My pontoonboat is a suntracker dlx 20 pontoonboat. Any tips on what or how to pull and tow the boat.
    Thanks

How much does that boat weigh? How much weight are you planning to put in the truck while pulling. I'm not familiar with them at all. Your truck won't have any trouble PULLING most pontoon boats. The limiting factor will always be how much weight you have on the trucks suspension. If the boat is much over 3000-4000 lbs you have to really start thinking about how much weight is in the truck. Four grown men could max out your payload. If it is just you, your wife and a small kid or 2 you're in better shape.

If that boat is 5000 lbs or more then you might have trouble with it. Looking at the pic in your avatar it appears you have some pretty big tires. Those effectively change your axle ratio which reduces towing ability too.

Before any discussion on the subject starts we need more details.

What is the weight of the pontoon boat + trailer?

I'm guessing it's a standard-width pontoonboat so you're going to have a lot of wind resistance and it can be as bad as maxing weight out. My brother pulled a pontoonboat with just him in the cab and the fuel and engine as the extra weight on the boat with a 5.3 Silverado and only got 12 MPG.

My truck has a six inch lift with 35' tires and it's a v6 6 speed.

again whats the weight of the pontoon? Taller tires and likely stock gearing + a block lift do not help you in any way.

Yea well I plugged in your boat and it’s more like #3700 package average.

    Did you Re-Gear?
    If not…..
You’re clutch ain’t gonna like it one bit.
Rev is tall to begin with.
    Clutch is weak.

    I've pulled over 7k lbs. 3in lift, 33" tires 4x4 6spd.

Pulling was no problem, I just stayed in the slow lane.

The problem was slowing down. No trailer brakes, so if someone were to cut me off and brake, that would be a big problem.

Pulling 2-3k lbs, not a problem at all. Just stay out of clumped up traffic.

heavier boat loaded with boating stuff and damp from the water plus a wet boat ramp always makes for a good watch
