I have been noticing that the ac on driver side is cold(as expected” but the passenger side is much less cool.maybe AC needs a little charge?

Most likely low. If it’s low, where’d it go? You have a leak.
I’d first check simple things like inlet blockages and filter status.

You are low on refrigerant. There is a small leak somewhere. Good luck

Did you check the SYNC button? Is it off and temp set higher for passenger side? Check the real simple things 1st. I leave the SYNC on all the time. Seems dumb to have dual climate control in such a small cab.

I had the same issue. Paid the $70 A/C test and they did a top up. Total cost was $160'ish. All is well again.

When my ac stopped working around 18 months ago, it was a leaking evaporator under the dashboard. I found it by adding uv dye and voila, it showed up inside the drain hose for the condensation. That’s one job I am not willing to do myself (remove dash etc in humid FL spring) and as such I had Toyota do it. Was around $2k to fix it.

I hope yours is an easier fix. I recall when I was troubleshooting mine several here said one side of the cab not as cool as the other was a sign of low coolant.

On my 2017, I added one of those $25 cans of Freon a month or so ago just to be sure fully charged. Well I chickened out and disconnected with about 1/2 gone. All good…little vent sensor turned bright blue. Put the other 1/2 can in the other car.

Ac pro. My wife’s 2007 4Runner ac blows warm air for the first time in 16 years of ownership. Charged it with ac pro. I watched you tube videos. It’s been fixed now. 3 months now and still blowing ice cold air. Ac pro says it can stop small leaks. Worked for me .

Same thing going on with mine, as well as the darth vader noise, the occasional whistling, and it doesnt get cold when the truck has been outside in the heat. I brought it into the dealer today as it's still under warranty, and they're telling me there's a leak, damaged condenser (a rock put a hole in it?), and a new compressor. Luckily, most of it is covered under warranty, but still rather unfortunate and frustrating.

I hope yours just needs a recharge, and isn't as serious as mine.

Well, I just had my refrigerant topped off today 09/14/23. I have a 2016 Off-Road w/28k miles. Same issue cool (not real cool on drivers side) and warm on passengers. The refrigerant was low. He charged it back up, it was low. Drove away, it came back warm again. Went back to the shop (mind you, no leaks present anywhere initially), mechanic came out with a refrig sniffer and it tested positive for leak under the passenger side dash. Thats a pull the dashboard job, Evaporator?. I only have 28k miles? I live in FL and the truck has been garaged its whole life, except the last month. The heat may have something to do with it being outside??
Anyways its not a cheap $$ fix.
He told me to try "Red Angel" (Amazon) refrig. stop leak and maybe that would hold off a big repair for a while. If you try that, it still needs a re-charge though after its been installed into the system.
Good luck, I'm in the same boat :(
