Aftermarket HU remote activation not working

Anyone else having the problem of not being able to activate the remote connect services to a aftermarket head unit? On the Toyota app I can get to where it gives me a activation code but I don’t have the factory HU in where I can follow the directions that the app give to set it up. It was previously working just fine before but I think the Toyota app had an update to where you now need to use a activation code to use the remote features in the app? Took my truck to the dealership and they looked at me with a dumbfounded blank stare with absolutely no insight or help to solve this issue lol
