Haha. Mucho appreesh @nd4spdbh. Now I also see the "OP" next to my name for this thread.

Thanks to all of you for your guidance @Tiedie @whatstcp @Blueberry.Taco . Love spending my time at work learning from experts rather than doing shit I probably should be doing.:hattip:

    @Tiedie @whatstcp @Blueberry.Taco

Dealership overall inspection before Recall work came back with:

    Valve Cover Gasket $1252
    Timing Cover Gasket $3440
LF CV boot (which I can feel already slightly grinding) $1050
    Sway bar links $611
    Diff fluid
    Coolant exchange service

Denied all. Got a guy to do the major work. Not sure about the gaskets, but may include the two gasket replacement with the new Fox shocks Ive got, coils, and the CV joints n’ sway bar links I’m going to replace on both sides of the front end. Just cause I don’t want one going bad soon after I replace one CV joint. Plus I love symmetry.

Recommendations for parts outside of Toyota parts is appreciated. Definitely not paying them to do shit although they gave me a 3rd Gen TRD Off-road 4dr in Lunar Rock to borrow. Enjoying having an automatic for a change. Forgot what that’s like.

Did you accidentally mistake the break for the clutch yet?
Nearly face planted into the steering wheel that woke me right up.

Jesus those prices! That’s almost CDN prices.

You can go Rockauto and I have had great success with them thus far.
But for more ‘critical’ components I would go Toyota OEM

Yeah that is a bit overpriced even for a stealership. Take it to your guy and see what he will charge you for it. Some of those are easy and can probably do it yourself if you have the time. I would also do the spark plugs if you are going to have work on the valve cover gasket done.

I’m going to put on Fox 2.0s that’ll give her a 2” lift…any recommendations on longer aftermarket sway bar links?

Check out OfferUp for stock take offs and I recommend at least outer tie rods also. I’m on my second set of coil over and rear shock take offs and updated control arms with stock front upper and lower arms and free recall leaf springs since buying my truck 8 years ago and it feels super nice. I have 2020 sport coilovers and rear shocks and don’t run the sway bar on my little 4 banger regular cab and don’t really miss it so possibly that could work for you.

You have a few options regarding sway bar / anti-roll bar.

    • Delete - sway bar / anti-roll bar.
    Pro: more articulation
Con: some say has noticeable body roll, some say they don’t notice it.
    Depends on your driving style.

    • stiffer sway bar / anti-roll bar.
    you can get aftermarket.

    • sway bar relocation kit.
essentially a drop spacer block type deal.

    • Swaybar Link quick disconnects.
I hear a lot of poor things about this topic and products.

Eh only 6 fasteners (not counting skid if that needs to be removed - can’t remember but not a huge deal at all) to remove it if you don’t like it. I’d run it with the current end links and do a trial without it once you install your new parts before spending on new end links - it feels a lot better with new coilovers if your old ones have a lot of miles even without the sway bar, but just test it for your own preferences.

Did the screws fit in the front? I ordered the front wheelers bump stops (for the 2nd gen Tacoma like I have) and the bolts that came w it are too fat. Idk if I should return them. I really wasn’t expecting to have to go out and find bolts and washers that work

I have the wheelers super bumps on my 2014, the bolts that came in the kit worked for me. Do they actually not fit in the hole or are you just basing it on visually looking at them? A little weird but, my bolts were black and had an Allen head, and came with a special allen wrench. Yours don’t look like mine did, that’s for sure.

where in SD are you? I’m in PB and have a good shop recommendation if you ever needed one, I know you said you have a guy, but just in case.

the first thing I did was try to screw them in. Then I saw they wouldn’t screw in because their too big . I gota tell polyperformance they sent the wrong kit, that is a great online store though

Your leak packs are probably contributing to the squeaks. So many options out there for upgrade/replacements I’m sure the nice knowledgeable folks here will guide you in the right direction:thumbsup:

i didn’t install them cause the originals looked like they’d never been touched.

It’s definitely the bushings in my Leaf’s. Front and rear bushings are creaking like an old school farm truck. Especially in this dry San Diego air.

IMG_7401.jpg Got the sway bar links and Fox 2.0s installed for the perfect amount of lift for daily neighborhood “Surf Check” driving with the pup. Had a Jetsons car sound for a bit cause the rears have reservoirs and the braided line was rubbing the inside of the tire after install, but I moved it.
Truck feels great and eats up big hump speed bumps and dips without the nose dive those rusted out 15yr old Bilsteins.

Thanks to everyone for the advice and input.

    Heavy duty leaves

Stiff as hell with no load, but the ass end will stick down while cornering hard at high speed.

I can corner at speeds that your truck would start rolling over with your weak leaves.

I don't have the sway bar on the front and I absolutely don't need it
