    I was moving at the time and borrowed a friends 17 1500. I was selling my 335i and I liked his a lot so I bought it. Eventually I wanted to lift it with a bds 6” kit , but realized how much of a pain it is to drive daily worrying about fitting in places. If I had another car I wouldn’t have cared. Plus added the tires/wheels, coilovers I was at 7.5-8k$.

    it’s always nice to have a truck, but I just don’t use the half ton like I would if I was in construction or something. Hope that makes sense.

    My Company provided colorado is a stripped down work truck model so its apples to oranges. I did enjoy the zr2 diesel but couldnt justify the price. I liked the looks of the tacoma better and wanted to try something new. Also, I couldnt have imagined having my daily as a colorado and my work truck the same model of truck. Weird I know but its always refreshing hoping out of that Colorado when I get home and getting in my Tacoma to head to the gym. The Colorado does drive nicely and has more HP though. I have 85k on my 19 work truck and only issues it has had has been with the tail lights. I have probably gone through about 8 bulbs in the same tail light. The seal seems rather poor on them. Other than that it has been a solid work truck. Personally I just preferred the Tacoma. Better aftermarket support and it was something new to me.

    I think I remember seeing the colorados zr2 when I looked at the Silverado and I didn’t like them at least not for cost attached.

    One thing I hate about the Silverado is that the air conditioning sucks. It’s either full blast or you don’t feel much at all. The windshield wipers are another gripe that people mention. Same thing, full blast or they don’t do anything.

    Well, you are lucky not to need a full size. If I didn't I'd be back in a Tacoma ASAP. I've even considered changing my boating and snowmobiling hobbies just to be able to drive a Tacoma again.

    Yeah I don’t haul on a weekly basis. More so just in case I guess you could say. Can a Tacoma not haul a boat or jet skis?

    Looks like it’s going to be very hard to find a 2020 Sand Tacoma with both premium off road and the advanced tech package

    Depends on the boat, not my boat or my snowmobile trailer. Jet skis not a problem at all. And if I didn't tow as much I might be able to get away with a Tacoma, but the boat gets pulled at least 5000 miles a summer and the sled trailer is about the same.

    How big of a boat or how many jetskis. There's a wide range of "boats and jetskis" out there that a Tacoma definitely cannot tow safely or at all. A single Jetski, not too bad. I did it in my 91 V6 with no issues, did it in my 00 V6 with no issues.

    Your gas mileage will be abysmal, probably 6-7 mpg.

    As for comparable levels of luxury....well yeah, full size trucks are GM, Ford, and Dodge's answer to luxury cars. But there's no way, absolutely no way, that you're going to get a new Silverado that's got the same interior bling as a TRD Pro, for the price of a TRD Pro. You can't even get a LT with a 4.3 V6 EcoTec for less than a TRD Pro. The Pro is $44k before accessories, and an LT V6 Ecotec is $45k.

    In order to get comparable interior features, you're going to have to throw $50k or more into a Silverado.

    While I somewhat agree with you, and this is a loaded response because todays market is SO SCREWED UP, the big difference is with GM, Ford and RAM you stand the chance to get massive discounts off MSRP. Toyota just doesn't do that. The Sierra I described above and bought in 2017 (again, todays market/current market is out to lunch), I bought new, in it's current year for almost $15,000 lower than it's sticker price. Toyota just doesn't do that. It was a '17 bought in the fall of 2017. It stickered for $52k and I bought it for 38 and change. I didn't even have to struggle to get this deal. When I bought my 2013 TRD Offroad, also brand new, current year, I was lucky to get $500 off invoice which basically amounted to 2500 or so off MSRP.

    So while technically you are correct, you have to shop for a $50k+ domestic full size to equal the features of a $44k Tacoma, what you actually pay will likely be comparable. Just not this year!

    And not last year either. The only vehicles reliably selling since COVID hit, even before the supply shock to the microchip industry, were essentially luxury purchases or fleet vehicles. The bottom dropped out of the affordable part of the car market, because most of the people who could afford those vehicles were out of a job or had their hours cut way back.

    You can't get a full size truck in today's market without paying pretty much MSRP. And unless you order, you're probably not even going to find one on a lot that's not optioned to be less than $60k.

    How do you like it? I went from Tacoma to silverado to Tacoma again. Chevy was fun and spacious but just not reliable and used more gas in the city. Harder to park too

    I had a 2000 Toyota tacoma, to a 2008 chevy silverado and now a 2013 Tacoma double cab. I also got a pontiac G8 GT to soothe V8 itch on the weekends. Perfect combination for me.

    I had the Silverado for around 9 months to a year, The last straw was when the fuel pump died one day when I was on the way to work. It just shut off on me about a block down from my house lol I had to push it back and then I knew I had to get back in a Tacoma. Chevy had around 100K miles

    If you don't have a loan on your truck and outright own it.

    You should consider a 2nd gen Tacoma. With the Dual VVT-i 4.0 engine ( 2010 and above).

    Just think about it if you have the time to private sale your vehicle, you'll get the maximum of what your car is worth. It gives you time to check and test drive Tacomas and see what you want.

    But the best part is that you'll have cash on the side to do your own mods.

    2nd gen Tacoma's are very reliable specially with the 4.0 engine. I think they look aggressive once kitted out. Besides that 3rd gen Tacomas are too pricey.

    You can also get a supercharger kit, to increase it's power and torque.

    That's my opinion. Buy a 2nd gen 4.0 4x4 Tacoma (2010 and up). Have cash on the side, and invest it in mods. Because with a 3rd gen Tacoma most likely you'll spend all your cash on buying it and some before you can start modifying it.

    Lastly don't trade your truck in you'll lose tons of money. Dealers are shady and will extremely low ball you.
