Don't feel bad, 3-4 years ago I thought I was the first one to see the colors available on the next yea's model. I got a lot of replies like "Welcome to 3 months ago genius" with links to a 3 month old thread.

If they were Access Cabs I'd say killing off the rear doors likely killed off sales to those guys as well.

Many people avoid year 1 and 2 of new models to let a manufacturer work out the kinks. Manufacturers expect it. With that said, many people also want to latest and greatest and buy and sell new vehicles like cheese burgers. If they don't like it, they sell it used and buy something else.

What is the alternative? They never change the model?

I mean, it would be pretty cool if you could get like a “classic” version of the Tacoma that really hasn’t changed much in the last 15 years.

They were actually in the design budget this time around, and the 3rd gen is really just a 2.5 gen.

Why would they come out and say: "we really did not want to invest too much R&D into this baby, so you're still getting drum brakes"
That isn't how you sell a product

I got one of the last 2nd gens on the west coast back in late 2015. :D

At the dealer in Seattle the new 3rd gens were lined up in rows fresh off the transport truck. Over in the corner they had four 2015s left, 2 short beds and 2 long beds. I grabbed a black long bed

I mean, if the whole combloc, southeast Asian countries, India, Mexico, and Latin America can teach us anything, you can make the same damn car for 40 to 50 years with only incremental improvements.

I appreciate a long run model. It makes used OEM and aftermarket parts plentiful.
