No worries dude, I posted in the wood working section and all I did was cut and stain wood

    Hardly a wood project :anonymous:

And thank you! The intent was already to mimic the stick stand as this whole thing was intended to really be just a single throttle stand; the stick stand came out of impatience due to the 4 week turn around time from Virpil.

That shit is made Lithuania, ships to Florida for fulfillment (for US orders), then to its US customers. All while still catering to other customers worldwide from Japan to Australia and Germany and everywhere in between.

    Anyway I digress.

@wilcam47 was more than welcome to offer me even more so I can definitely name him a contributor to these stands. However, the piece I had now would already work though might look "awkward" due to the full use of its real estate.

The whole "side legs" or "tabs" was something I thought of but quickly wrote off as it would take away from being able to see the wood. I absolutely love the color stain I picked up.

    20230907_085629.jpg

So really all I need to do is stop playing with my throttle, sit down, and draw the mounting plate. It will have two ears that bend downward with slots to allow the mounting of the wood in an either flat position, or angled upward slightly.

Only thing I'd want ideas for is, now that you guys saw my stand (and use of certain hardware), I'd like a soft rubber, or matte colored plastic, threaded handle to tighten or loosen the bolts that lock the top plate in place.

PS The programming software Virpil provides was written by gods, it is fucking amazing

    McMaster has a 12" piece for $10.37

They're pretty reasonable for angle iron prices - always lower than HD or other non-metal specific retailers. Most everything else is a little pricey, but they have good selection and at least for me the convenience factor is high where I live nearby a brick and mortar will call.

Damn, it's stupid cheap near me and yeah $10 is nothing but 3-6 week wait time? Pass. I'll just order from online metals as they normally ship next day.

Was just thinking I'd find some right away here that'd go in a flat rate box; I'd be emailing the label.

3-6 weeks? Holy moly. That is nuts. Only takes 45 minutes from ordering and it's at my will call ready to be picked up - maybe we could make a TW McMaster express shipping service haha

I wouldn't hear the end of it, just like the front diff that made it's way to 3 different members before it reached me, only to throw it in the trash when I moved cause my storage was already full :bananadead:

Rummaging through my stuff I found even more stuff I didn't realize I had like a nice big 2' x 3' of cold rolled 3/16", 1" square tube, and more.

I need to create a project out of that stuff.

Same shop that gave me 2 similar size sheets for free; it's how I made a sign for a member here for his house, as well as the legs for my stand.

    I love using 12 gauge.

I bought some 4' x 10' sheets of 16, 18, and 22 gauge today. Got to the bottom of the stack and found this little gem.

Good news is the opposite side was rust free. The warehouse guys must have flipped it while loading. Still going to mean some flap disk work every time I use it. It's the 22 gauge and will be backer plate for signs, so I can use the rusted side for the true back side of the sign, but I'll still feel obligated to clean it off.

I'd say, after you cut it down to size just give a vinegar bath so you don't have to spend so much time cleaning it yourself

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
Had a project recently that I needed some special sized bolts. Went to McMaster online. Local store didn't stock but they'd ship them there...for $30! No, thank you! Wound up finding some on Amazon, had to buy twice as many as I needed, but they weren't much more than McMaster's unshipped price.

    also @wilcam47

Good idea. I have some of the 36% stuff. I can mix up some bath water. As you guys said, I may keep a few sqft for some aged look sign.

I knew (other than my health) there was a reason I tried not to spike my blood pressure when I saw it!

I forget who owns the finger brake kit here, but it'd work for any 3" bottom die

While I wait for my 1.5" x 1.5" angle iron to arrive, here's a mock-up of the smaller bottom die I'm making for my setup

    20230915_153558.jpg

This will cover mostly what I need, however if I ever needed to bend thin stuff with a tighter radius I have this drop in as well

    20230915_153648.jpg

Parts will get welded of course but this would be a much nicer and simpler setup than taking a bunch of angle iron stepped down in .5" increments and after grinding off the sharp bottoms on each one

Got this bitch centered damn near perfect against the die as you can see by the light; the small break is actually the finger die itself

    20230915_192615.jpg

Hoping to spend a good amount of time tomorrow in chasing my firing issue on the table so I can cut shit and try out the new bottom die

    20230915_192728.jpg

Of course I'll have to drop the bottom stack down a notch

    @Ricardo13x

Realized why my table quit cutting; testing torch height control (the item I suspected) is not reading any live voltage on my program

Will have to buy a multimeter cause I can't find mine but now to diagnose if it's the VIM box. If the VIM box shows no voltage, then I'll have to check my cpc plug. If that shows no voltage, I'll have to trace it to the plasma cutter itself.

    Hate diagnosing shit :annoyed:

Gets outta hand real quick dude. Testing will get you to the right component no doubt.

So continuity test says my cable is good and measures the same .5 ohms on the torch on/off as the thc.

@Shmellmopwho can you do me absolutely the biggest favor?

If at all possible, if you can run a continuity test (measuring resistance) across the DIV input and the DIV output.

Technically a circuit is completed thus you should have resistance across one side to the other.

My VIM box measures as open circuit when I try it but I don't know if it's open by design until voltage is applied or not.
