Hello forum my first post on here and I wanted to show my steering wheel swap I finished a few minutes ago. Took a grand total of 25 minutes to look for tools and swap in the new wheel. Had read previously about expensive swaps happy to say this was on the lower end at around 300$ 150 for each air bag and steering wheel. Overall really excited steering wheel feels a lot better and sturdy. Very straight forward! :D

    Looks good well done.

does it integrate with the Cruiser control stock?

I’m tempted to do this as well. Care do to a write up?

Thank you- my truck is a 2006 base so it pretty much has no features to wire up so that also made the install pretty simple.

(tools you will need: 3/4 inch socket and wrench,T20-25 drivers, flat head screw driver and wire cuter/splicer if rewiring)

(parts you’ll need : Tacoma 12-15 air bag + steering wheel and steering wheel control harness most of these things you better off by locally or eBay to get a good deal )

The step by step consisted of

Step 1: Turn off battery and make sure steering wheel is straight.

Step 2:remove both plastic cover pieces on side of steering wheel to allow access for screws

Step 3: Use a T20 or T25 driver to remove screws on both sides of wheel (only one each)

Step 4: After screws are loose this allows you to pull off air bag from wheel. Now remove horn and air bag wires. NOTE: if you have steering wheel controls such as cruise control or volume etc. this would be where you can splice the wires or add a harness to adapt them to your new wheel

Step 5: Once are wires have been removed use a 3/4 in socket to remove center bolt. This is the last thing holding the steering wheel down.
Once you remove your old wheel go ahead and put the new one.

Step 6: Tighten down the 3/4inch center bolt down and make sure steering wheel is straight.

Step 7: Follow the same steps to put everything back together.

Step 8: Connect battery and test everything out to make sure it is working as it should, tune accordingly

Notes: for my install something that helped was the fact my truck lacks features (base model) but for the most part it is the same installation only part that is different is the wheel controls. Also take into consideration the fact that If you have a after market stereo you will also have to hook that up differently that if the stereo is the OEM one that came with truck.

Since you have no volume switch on the left, thats not a possible complication.
My son ran into some sort of complication (machine work) on his 08 to 15. With left side switches on (08 sw pic below with r side non usable switches)
Any cruise, horn or air bag lights or other issues?
