Hey yall I'm looking to restore these old wheels I got on my taco. I was wondering if there were any (preferably black) colors yall used and would recommend. I got some 265 75s to put on em. Also I've never really done a wheel restoration before and wondered if yall had any tips on what and what not to do.

Use 2k primer, a good base coat of automotive paint, and 2k clear. 1k rattle can stuff always chips and dust will get imbedded in it making it dull in a short period of time. I’d spend the money on getting them powder coated or leave them original or get some with the color you like with factory paint that will hold up way better. I’ve painted many sets of wheels and won’t do it again. Always unsatisfied with the look over time if I used rustoleum etc.

I rattle-can painted my oem alum wheels the first month I bought my truck in 07. I used black hammered finish - I think Rustoleum. I did not primer the wheels but I did clean/wash them well and used 150-grit sandpaper. I was pleased with the results. The hammer finish conceals most pitting and irregularities. I used painters tape to cover the tires but I have since seen a better procedure - stick index cards vertically between the wheel and the tire. Will do that next time when I touch up the paint.

Took some pics for show and tell.
Left pic is wheel I repainted a month ago. Next one needs a new coat. It has been about six years since last coat. My truck is parked outside 24/7.
