Suggestions to replace 1st gen’s manual stick?

Hello all,

I have a 2000 Tacoma base model, 4-cylinder stick shift. I LOVE my truck… but the stick makes it impossible for anyone to sit in the middle of the bench seat. How can my sweetheart sit by me if I have to ask her to move every time I need to shift gears, you know?

I would like to replace the stick with something that has an angle to it, so the stick will end up pointing straight up instead of towards me. I don’t mind if I have to reach a little to grab the stick, as the truck is little, so it’s not exactly a far reach. I’ve tried to search online for a replacement, but I can’t seem to find any place that sells something like this that would fit my truck.

Any idea where I could look? I appreciate any help y’all could provide. Thanks in advance.
