hey! i use tacoma world all the time and decided to ask a quite urgent question on here. i just bought a 1st gen beginning of the year and just purchased some 33s for her/new gear off road wheels.(haven’t come yet) i don’t have any lift on her yet, and am willing to put a 3 inch (suspension or body) on to help compensate the tires, BUT i also know that probably wont be enough. trying to figure out what other mods i’ll need to get these things to fit. send help lol

Welcome double0! You have come to the right place to learn how to show your Taco some love!! IMHO, stay away from the body lift, they aren’t the way to go. Blocks in the rear and spacers in the front would be a pretty economical way to get her lifted. Even if you later upgrade to new leaf springs and larger coil overs, the blocks/spacers could get ya started.

Wheel offset definitely plays a factor. You will most likely rub on the frame a little bit regardless. Flattening out the pinch weld and trimming some of the inner fender liner will probably be necessary. The actual size of 33s with vary slightly between brands so what fits with out rubbing or cycling through its path in the wheel well will be different from person to person. Also body lifts:(

Tacoma Lift FAQ/Guide - READ THIS | Tacoma World
This is a good starting point to read through and then people are pretty helpful to answer specific things after that.

thanks so much! yes haha most things i’ve seen have said stick to a suspension lift and spacers and start cutting only if u have to if you are inexperienced. the offset of the new wheels are 0 so i would imagine that would help considering the stock rims are 15. (i beleive) been trying to find others that out 33s on 1st gens!!

Welcome to TW! I would agree. Id get whatever lift you decide to run, Install it at the same time you do tires, and then assess. I think i ran 1" spacers with the stock wheels, 33x12.5s and i still rubbed on the frame in one spot. With that said, i only had to trim the lower part of the stock front bumper and I flattened the pinch weld. I hope it works out and i cant wait to see a picture!

What, what?! so you're running 33's with no lift currently until you get a lift? Nice looking truck.
