You are right. Pressing a drum against a tire and spinning it 10mph gives real world experience. You do realize that those tires you deemed bad because the machine said they were bad were sent back to the manufacturer who rejected your claim and you shop gets hit with a denied warranty claim. Your shop then eats the cost.

I am going through the same situation, new Defender LTX m/s causing a vibration and steering wheel shimmy. Road force balanced showed over 30 lbs on one tire and 25lbs on another, tire shop contacting Michelin for possible warranty on tires, the other two tires are within spec. Tires all have same manufacture date code. Factory OEM 17 inch rims, first tire replacement, old Dunlops worn even with good tread left, just old.

Schwab's a joke. I've had a few bad experiences with them over the years. Recently, I figured they couldn't screw up coding in my TPMS when I switched to summer wheels and tires this season. Wrong! Two guys dicking with my tires for about 40 minutes, airing them up and down to flat, using different coders, yadda yadda. They couldn't do it, telling me there is something wrong with my 2-year-old sensors or the "system". I took it to a local Point S tires, and they coded them in in 5 minutes. Schwab's is ok for flat repairs, that's about it. Even then they will over torque your wheel by about 20 pounds when they put it back on. Amateurs.

If you had that many bad experiences with Schwab's then why did you keep going back to them. Just saying

Good point. I moved a couple times, and I thought stores in a different town may be better. Not so.

Oh man I just had new wheels and defender tires just installed Thursday and am having the same steering wheel shimmy. I have an appointment set off for Monday @ discount tire where I purchased. Damn sounds like a thing.

I was able to fix my problem. Turns out the wheels were torqued wrong. I saw as high as 125ft lbs. They were not consistent and all over the place. I loosened all the lugs and torqued to the correct 83ft lbs. All is good now.

Because PSI is just a means to an end...'inflated load capacity'.

3d gen Tacomas have a inflated load weight of 2,149 lbs-2,172 lbs from P and euro metric tires.

    Examples:
    265/70/16/112(euro-metric)@ 30 psi = 2,149 lbs(Offroad)
    P265/65/17/110(P-metric) @ 29 psi = 2,149 lbs(Sport)
    P245/75/16/109(P-metric) @ 32 psi = 2,172 lbs(SR)

The vehicle manufacturer de-rates euro-metric and P-metric tires for use on trucks and SUVs.
If you switch to LT tires, the new inflated load weight is 2,149/1.1=1,954 lbs.
Use the proper euro-metric, P-metric or LT load chart to find the PSI that attains this weight for your particular size and/or load rating.

This Toyo pdf explains it more in depth and has all the charts.

    What tires you running?

Had this happen recently with a set of Nitto ridge grapplers, after the third balance and wasted time, I ordered new tires in a different brand, that resolved the vibration. DT did all of the work and refunded the difference.

PS, I’ve owned the Nitto’s RG’s before and had zero issues, these were just a bad set.

    That is a euro-metric 245/75/16/111 SL.
    111 is the load rating.
It has a load capacity of 2,172 lbs @ 32 psi.
