What Have You Done To Your 3rd Gen Today?

Mounted an ammo can to the rack for gloves soft shackles and snatch block. Used some Leftover rigid utv mirror mounts to eliminate lateral movement when going down the highway. Added a stainless padlock lug. I have a little bigger one for the other side for my kinetic rope. There are spacers between the can and rack so the lid does not rub the rack when opening and closing. when i get the other one mounted i will have them both powder coated blue

 

This is mostly temporary anyway, I’ll likely swap out for Halos, got a link to ones you bought?

 

Nothing much lately just enjoying my Taco. Put a K&N filter in today haven’t driven it yet but should be a nice compliment to the OTT that I am really enjoying.

Two projects implemented today.
1). Added a SONY amplifier to the non-JBL head unit. There was plenty of room because this thing is small:

Did I write small? Well, it's mounting location is attached to and underneath the head unit. Yep amazing the amount of room in the dash.

To avoid any OEM wire harness cutting, I purchased the following Red Wolf harness:

then cut the wires in the middle, and one half plugs into the back of the radio where the 10 pin speaker wire harness of the truck used to plug into the HU, and it is wired to the input of the amp. The other half of the RW harness is wired to the output of the amplifier, and the truck's speaker harness is now plugged into it.

While the volume in the rear is now very audible, those speakers in the rear door need to be swapped out for sure.

2). I've been playing around with OBDII and Android Auto lately. There is a work-in-progress available through the PlayStore called "dashOBD". I'm hoping the author of this program builds upon what he has and makes it great. So my issue was, do I want to leave a small OBDII reader attached to my OBDII port all the time? No since the port is always "on", so I wanted to limit current draw with the truck off.

I purchased the following splitter off AMAZON:

First off, this thing fits into the OEM bracket. You pinch the sides of the OEM one to remove it from the bracket under the dash, and connect it to the black connector of the splitter. Then one port is inserted back into the bracket. In my case, the other port has a small OBDII Bluetooth reader permanently connected to it now. I cut wire 16 going to that port, and wired it to a switched fuse with an add-a-fuse. Now the OBDII reader only powers up when the car is started.

Next up, replacing the dash tweeters, and the rear door speakers.

 

Absolutely I will update in a few days possibly a weeks time. I haven’t even driven it yet since I just installed it today and I’m home bound. I will update with sound , performance and mpg improvements if any. One thing I can say out of gate needless to say is it’s a well made filter that fits perfectly with a nice seal.

 

Installed the Talons Garage Cat Shield on 2023 DC SR 2.7 Easy install, the fit is super tight and vibration free. Used three different types of fasteners so the would be thieves will have to roll up with fully loaded toolbox and pack a lunch because it will take a while to uninstall.

Went wheeling this weekend, and truck threw either a steering alignment code, or pre collision code, thus not letting me use the rear locker at first. So, hard wired that to a switch, and later lost the ability to switch into 4x4.
So, getting rid of all the electronics (factory elocker harness/switch, manual tcase swapping it, and getting rid of the add tube) so I do not have this horrible problem again. So stupid how its all linked together, all for probably a slightly crooked steering wheel (i bend tie rods like no other).
