Well my Tacoma was totaled and i decided to go thw route of owner retained, and payout by insurance company. Looking to get rebuilt title on my truck. Its still in great running condition and i plan to drive it for at least another 15 years! Looking forward to interacting and learning new things in Taco land.

The entire bed needed to be replaced, driverside frontend needed new fender, bumper grill and based on how the bed was up against the cab it looked like frame damage. Repair costs of 14,000 reach the threshhold for percentage needed to deem truck a total loss by insurNce company. Ive removed bumper, camper shell, tailgate and replaced broken headlight and tail light with used oem's off ebay. And i foundout from inspection the frame was in great shape, that was great to hear.

I no longer buy clear title vehicles if I can find one to rebuild.

About ten years ago I bought a 2008 Corolla with a rebuilt title and the car has been great. It's saved me so much money that about five years ago I bought a wrecked Taco and fixed it in my driveway, driving it with no problems for about three years until I sold it. In fact it was such a good experience that I bought another Taco with similar damage to fix and resell while I owned the first, but the wife liked the second truck even more so she talked me into selling the first one. The second Taco has been great too, but I don't like lifted trucks and it has a factory 2" lift.

I don't insure for full coverage which has saved me a bundle, and if I scratch the truck it's no big deal.
