Just got off the phone with Alpha Rex about my fog lights. To their credit they called me with questions. My 2013 Tacoma (manufacture date 11/12) has been a PITA finding replacement LED fog lights to fit. I first ordered (and returned) a set of OEM upgrade lights but found they have 40mm center to center on both the inner tabs that slide into the bumper and outer tabs that screw into the bumper bosses. My truck has 44mm centers, so i could cut on my bumper or the lamps but wouldn't be able to make the screws work without a major mod I don't want to do as I'm too old to be fighting this. Part number for the rusted right side is officially 81210-08020, but my lamp has the number 81210-0802000. The last two digits are a different font than the rest of the number.

I once had to return a "plug and play" wiring kit for the trailer harness because my truck wasn't set up for it although the manufacturers database said it would per the model year. They asked me to provide the VIN so they could update their database.

Sorry for the long post. My question folks, is has anyone else experienced this? Is it possible my truck has some orphan parts from the 2012 model year? And how can I confirm it?

I often tell people one of the best things about a Taco is the support and experience base. That would be you. So I just threw y'all a 90MPH curve ball. Ant help? Thanks:)

Is the picture in you signature your truck? Would you also be able to attach a larger picture of the front of you truck?

12-15 fogs and bezels are the same.

    05-11 are different.

Are you sure the previous oem fogs you bought and returned were for a 12-15 and not a 05-11 or 16-23?

Idk how much those alpha Rex’s are but you should consider a set of DD SS3’s instead.

The Alpha Rex lights were 140. They can do white or amber with a double-tap on the switch. I can get a closer picture, but the fitment was the same issue with OEM and Alpha Rex, i.e., the 4mm difference in center hole spacing means I'd have to rig up a way to mount them and modify either the truck or the lamp housing. Absolutely sure on the compatibility by model year guys. This will be the 2nd set of lamps I'm returning.

Has your truck ever been in an accident? The reason I ask is that you have a what appears to be scooped hood, chrome grille with a TRD PRO style grill insert. Could it be that you have non OEM front bumper cover and maybe thats why the fog lights arent fitting correctly?

Did you order them with or without the bezels?

I changed the grill insert and added the scoop. It's not been in a accident - good thinking there. I did not order bezels, but the lamp attaches to the bumper. Slides into slots on the inner side and screws down to a bosses on the outboard side.

STOCKTRD - good point , maybe they have a adapter plate/bezel. Would think their rep would have asked me that. I'm reaching out to them to be sure. As my truck had fog lamps originally it may be a moot point. Local dealer is bringing in an 08020 for me to check tomorrow. I'd really like to upgrade as the replacement OEM housing costs more for one side than a kit. Starting to kick around the mods I'd need to do to make these fit....

Dont know if you ever got a solution. I just got my fog lights from alpharex and my issue is that they dont fit. I didnt have foglights previously so the cover clips that slide in are wider than the ones on their foglight assembly so they dont go in correctly. Currently in talks with them.

Exactly my issue WiscoTaco4x4. I think Alpha Rex knows something is amiss. My solution was an OEM lamp which was a lot more $ and not as good a light. But its not brown and rusty. Sorry to hear about your problem, but now I feel vindicated!

This thread covers most legitimate options for late 2nd Gen for PnP fogs. So many better options to choose from. AlphaRex is not a manufacture, they are an importer of cheap off-brand chinese lighting products that are white labeled to their brand name for a big mark up to sell to unknowing US consumers. Definitely a brand to avoid. See the thread, so many better products from brand name manufactures that put AlphaRex to total shame.

I called them yesterday and they said that no one else has returned them with this issue which now I know is bs. But the clips spacing for oem is 1 3/16” and the Alpharex ones are 1” they said they’d get back with me today with there’s but they’d allow me to trim it without voiding warranty
