PO440

What y’all think? Gas cap? I don’t know if I’ll be that lucky. This truck is giving me problem after problem right now.

 

It could be multiple issues, gas cap is the easiest and cheapest to check first. I am currently going through it on mine with p0440 and p0442.

Another 2 possible items are the the fuel pump seal and the charcoal/evap canister. I will be replacing my seal as soon as I find a good replacement, unfortunately denso has stopped manufacturing them, but you can find one made by spectrum (I don't know their quality).

The canister goes bad I've read as a result of overfilling the tank with gas and having it splash down in.

I think if your truck is 01 and newer, the canister is located on top of the tank, rather than the engine bay in older models. To replace both, it is recommended to unbolt the bed and either remove with a cherry picker or shimmy it back a few feet.

Hoping to have mine replaced shortly, and I will report back if it fixes mine.
