Hey everyone I've been with State Farm my entire life so have my parents but loyalty apparently doesn't mean anything as my rates keep going up with no accidents or tickets, So I was wondering who do you use and if it's not too personal what are you all paying? I'm in the Chicagoland area and drive a 2017 TRD OR for reference.

Costs like employees are going up and so have vehicle values, so rates are going with it. I’m not saying “don’t shop it” I’m just saying you can’t assume they’re pocketing all the increases.
I to, am long time SF customer, and shopped em when I was renewing my home owners policy, my broker told me that he would try, but was skeptical he could beat SF with the same coverages, and he couldn’t,,, well, not more than a few dollars.

there’s an infinite amount of scenarios, so I don’t think using other’s amounts are even remotely comparable, but you’ll still get lots of numbers thrown your way.

Insurance premium is based on many factors. The vehicle, driver age, driving record and location are just a few if them. Sorry, but nothing anyone provides here will be able to give you insight as to what carrier has better rates for your specific situation. Call around or go online and get some quotes

Call an insurance broker in your area who can shop multiple carriers. I was with Allstate for years, called a broker who cut my rates in half. This was several years ago. That being said, all companies are jacking up rates like crazy right now.

It won't hurt at all to shop around. At least you will know what is out there.

Yup loyalty means shit. My gf works in a insurance company it's really a meaningless thing. I'll suggest you to shop around with big carriers like travelers, progressive, state farm etc... I would have suggested you to shop with Toyota insurance but I don't think they are offering their products in your state ATM. But still they do the same thing they'll just shop around for you , offer you the lowest rate offered to them by another carrier and let the other company be the underwriter of your policy.

I shop mine annually. I rarely renew with the same carrier and I almost never renew twice. The last few rounds have been flip flopping between GEICO and progressive since it seems that the one I'm not with is always cheaper.

    Loyalty is for suckers.

I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate cross shopping, but recently my own fing 20 year company refused to insure my motorcycle becuase I didnt have 3 years experience.

Called a recommended broker and got a crazy low rate with very few hoops to jump.

I gotta get my butt in gear with my other policies.

I feel you. The worst part is that the local Allstate guy has figured out my pattern and is already starting with the mailers and voice messages. I usually start shopping end of October.

For the last five rounds Allstate and Farmers have consistently quoted double what the others are charging for the same coverage/deductibles. Feel free to continue sending my free firepit starters if it makes you feel better though.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
The thing about insurance ( most things dealing with a sales person) many times with a New Quote it is low balled to get your business then it keeps going up a few dollars every renew and most people just keep paying the price.

check out AAA insurance if available in your state, they were considerably cheaper and seem to be more on the drivers side when sh#t goes down.
Unlike Geico was - even when I was deemed not at fault, it felt like they were working against me, just to get my (previous) truck repaired as it was before getting rear ended

One thing to consider depending on your personal financial situation is raising your deductibles. If you're generally going to only use your insurance for a catastrophic claim where you total your truck or major house claim, what is taking a $1500 deductible hit. It's doable. Still keep the necessary coverages if you have significant assets to lose, uninsured driver, etc. It saves me significantly. And like others have said, don't be loyal to your company, be loyal to yourself.

Like many have said, age, experience, etc etc all figure into the cost. I have both home and auto with the same company, get a fair discount. I've had Nationwide Insurance since I started driving in 1977, no claims at all. No claims on homeowners policy either, and they keep going up almost every year. I live on the coast so our rates are ridiculous, just this year a 30% increase and they want another 20% next year, damn hurricanes are driving up the rates. And, only a few companies write policies on the coast, so we're screwed! Not just Nationwide raised the rates, all companies went up the same. I shop my policies every 2-3 years, and Nationwide is always the best and least expensive, maybe they get beat by a few dollars but not enough to change. Also, my agent is fantastic, she calls me every year to go over my policies, an if there is a way to save money, she calls. So, I also value having a good agent who knows me, my family and my circumstances.

Now, having said all that, I HATE dealing with insurance companies! I'd rather deal with a used car salesman than deal with insurance. But, you've got to have insurance, and the policy has to fit your needs. It's a necessary evil!

And be careful, as someone already said, companies will "bait" you with low ball numbers just to get your business and than jack up your rates. Make sure you compare policies "apples to apples" so you know that your getting fair comparisons. Also, having a close friend high up in the insurance company food chain, they hate people who change companies every year. So, not saying it's wrong to change companies every year, but you could be shooting yourself in the foot. For me, I don't have the time nor desire to shop/talk with several companies every year. My agent knows I check on her so she's good at staying competitive.

    Hello,
My wife and I do a Bundle plan with Travelers insurance it covers our vehicles and our home owners insurance, for two new cars, hers is a 2021 Camry and mine is a 22 Tacoma we pay $1400 for Car insurance for a year, and I was in an accident last year with my Tacoma and the first accident was cover by accident forgiveness program. no surcharges at all, home owners insurance runs us 485 a year.

Travelers is great but they may only be on the east coast.

At the same time, home owners is skyrocketing. $1,300 five years ago, $3,600 this year. While the house has appreciated, it didn't triple...
