    /Story Time With Tom

    I grew up in southcentral Los Angeles area. the 10, 20 and 30 year reunions were just at some local hotel in a big banquet room. Only one I attended (20 year) had maybe 30 - 35 classmates, and some of them brought their spouses. Thought it was a little sad, as our graduating class had >400 kids in it. No idea how many attended the 10 year. The 30 year was actually a multi year thing, I believe about 5 different years worth of graduating classes were invited, no idea how many may have attended that one.

    In high school, I was the nerd/geek/"band kid". I wasn't part of the "in crowd", and at my high school, marching band was looked down on. And I wasn't a jock. I was in most of the "advanced/gifted" classes, so I was "friends" with them all, but didn't hang around with them outside classes, so I was sort of an outsider. Funny thing was, at the 20 year reunion that I did attend, almost everyone wanted to come talk to me. Even one of the hottest girls that I had a huge crush on in school, waited to talk to me. I was flattered that everyone wanted to talk, but still a bit :confused:

    Another side note. A fair number of my classmates all went into the military. Most Army, but a couple Navy or Marines. our HS has an Air Force Jr. ROTC program, and a couple of those went into the Air Force. At the 20 year reunion, one of my good friends, who had been an Army M.P., was at the reunion, and we got to sharing Army stories. I only did 3 years, he intended to make it a career. So he was still in when all the shit in the middle east got started. He ended up deploying, don't remember exactly where or when, but at some point he got injured by an explosion. Roadside bomb/IED possibly. He ended up getting out, not sure now if he was medically retired or just didn't re-up. He ended up becoming a Sheriff Deputy somewhere in...... Kentucky. But I forget where. That 20 year reunion was in 2005, I haven't had contact with him since then. I often think about him and where he was as a Deputy, now that I live in KY :rofl:

    I think a few people did our 10 year at a bar. I wasn't interested. I think 15 fell apart. But at this point people are asking about bringing their kids. And people cam change a lot in 20 years....or not at all. So I'm slightly curious. :notsure:

    Mornin' or whatever!

    I got off F/book long ago - but I used to get shit in the mail; like a lot - took a while for that nonsense to stop..

    @BarcelonaTom67
    We moved 2x growing up - once to OK and then to FL [middle school] - I was in all the honors/gifted classes so I knew those kids, but it didn't matter what I did, I was always the 'new kid' who didn't go to whatever primary school with the rest. I gave up on that early on and just wanted to be left alone. I did play sports though - basketball + track, so that helped protect me from the rampant violence at my school. I also made it very clear, you hit me, I WILL hit you back and then some.
    Only one fucker was stupid enough to hit me - the first time I made a plan, cause the dude was the size of a fridge! The second time I had steel toe boots on - he hit me from behind, upside the head - I spun around and nailed that fucker square in his shin!! He dropped to the ground and his boy was like OMG WTF. It was awesome and no one fucked with me ever again.

    I wound up getting a job at Target when I was a Jr. and I still speak to a few of my co/workers. We would hang out and drink after work [and yea I was 16-20 at that time]; but they were much better than the kids at school.

    In the end there were 1500 kids in my class - most are probably dead or in jail or flippin burgers - :notsure:
    Not trying to go back to Tampa to find out.

    That looks pretty sweet! My older brother went to something like this last year in NC. Maybe it was this one. He said it was great!

    I'm helping to move my younger sister this week and next, so doesn't work for me, but I'll keep it on the radar for next year. :fistbump:
