I need to upgrade my rear suspension due to weight back there. Thinking about getting some heavy duty leafs as I still have stock. I have the tent and shell but also a fully loaded Decked system in the bed which adds up to quite a bit of weight.
All added up there’s around 800 lbs including the tent.
What should I do without breakin the bank?

800 lbs? Jesus. Maybe you already know this, but there’s a good likelihood that you are exceeding your GVWR.

In any case, it sounds like you need substantially stiffer leaf packs either by augmenting the ones you have (i.e. an add-a-leaf) or buying new ones. I’ve never seen any that advertise 800 lbs constant payload, but they might exist. You might benefit from new shock absorbers valved for the weight as well. You are playing with the limits of what the truck was designed for.

You should also understand that the rear suspension is not the end of the story. You might also be testing the limits of your frame, axle, brakes, tires, handling, etc. I don’t mean to cause alarm. I just want to point out things that you might not be considering.

If I caused you alarm, this might calm you.

Damn that is a squatty boi.

With an 800lb static load I would recommend checking out the Deaver u402 stage 3's or the new Archive Garage HD leaf packs. Would be a good idea to upgrade the bump stops as well if you're still stock. I'd also probably lower the front some to regain some lost downtravel at that height. That is a gnarly amount of weight.

x2 on the Deavers. I have the stage 2 and they were just right with a decked system, shell, etc. Maybe not quite as much in the drawers tho.

As these guys have said, when you're pushing north of 600lbs I always look to Deaver. They're really the only name in the game when it comes to handling seriously heavy loads in the tacos. If you decide to go that route (or just need to talk through options) give me a buzz here at Hotshot Offroad. We'd be happy to help! :) 406-936-0206

Agreed with what the others have said. You are close to or exceeding GVWR - especially once you start putting humans/dogs/water/food/gear in on top of your base weight.

After addressing rear leaf springs and probably hangers (Archive Garage are a good option, but not the only one), I would be looking at upgrading the front brakes ASAP.

X3 on the deavers and some legit bump stops, I have the stage 2 and it's a wild difference from factory.
