And now I have to drop another 50 bucks on fucking gaskets because the pos gasket setup doesn’t keep them in while installing it and the remflex gaskets are trashed. FUCK THIS SHIT

it doesn’t help I’m in a pissy mood because I’ve got a god damn gmc sitting at work getting a new engine.

I work at a Toyota dealer and replace more hemis and Chevy pushrod trash than Toyota motors anymore.
Oil burning turds. I hate working on them. It’s ruining my zen at home now lol

That black one looks sweet; but I thought he had less than the mileage stated cause the engine was replaced?

 

I think he did a motor swap at 450k because of head gaskets.

I removed my TRD headers to coat them with hi temp paint, and change out the donut gaskets when I replaced my clutch. Having the transmission out made it super easy. Removing the transmission helps with the crossover pipe, but otherwise, installing right and left bank shouldn’t be that difficult, even with the transmission installed.

Also, not sure if this is where you struggled….but, side B of the donut gaskets gets pressed into the flanged ends, circled in yellow below. The metal lip on the gasket will seat into the stepped inner diameter and is held in place like an inner sleeve. This will firmly hold the donut gaskets in place while you install the crossover pipe. No worry about the gasket falling out while you adjust the position and tighten the hardware.

For the driver side, you will to separate the 2 pieces and install and tighten the part of the header piping that connects to cylinder 4 and 6 first, then install the header pipe for cylinder 2.

You should also use the metal OEM exhaust manifold gaskets. I used them when I first installed the headers over 20 years ago, and gave me no problems. Went with the OEM gaskets again this time around.

I’ve got them fitted, the gaskets keep falling out of the flange and one got damaged. So now I’m stuck waiting on more gaskets. Really wish I had the full setup when the cab was off.
