You’re basing that on “recalls” that have nothing do do with the powertrain and now-solved wastegate sourcing issues.

seems logical. Definitely not cope because you own a ‘23 and need to be vindicated for your decision

Most reviews are favorable about the new Tundra, so your opinion is in the minority. Additionally, you can't buy the 2024 Tacoma yet, so you're actually right for once. Again, what point are you trying to make here?

The new generation Tundra kinda sucks. I expect the same for the similar Tacoma for a few years. And as the title says, right now the 2023 is still the Tacoma to have.

IC. You don't have any real discussion points, fabricated recalls about the Tundra, and turned yourself in to an NPC.

I had a 3rd gen Tacoma manual OR for 5 years. Loved it’s look, functionality, and build quality. Hated its power train, seating position, and honestly gas mileage for what it is.

Switched to a Bronco last year - the 2.3 turbo and 7speed manual is not even comparable to the 3rd gen Tacoma… night and day better/more fun. I get 25/26 mpg on the freeway about 22 combined. Convertible was also a big factor in the switch. I’m starting to miss the functionality of having a truck bed and the noisy roof is getting a little old. Ford build quality nowhere near Toyota.

To me the 4th gen should be perfect… take everything the 3rd gen Taco had going for it and throw basically the same engine in it that my Bronco has. Having disc brakes in the rear will also be nice.

I rented a hybrid Jeep Wrangler for the last 2 days. I’d never driven a hybrid anything before and was skeptical about it. Long story short, it was awesome. At slow speed and initially on accelerations from a stop it’s electric only. Gas engine kicks on once you get going. You don’t feel a thing. You’d never know it was happening if you didn’t check the tach. The Jeep driving manners still felt bouncy and Jeepish. But the engine set up was awesome. Can’t wait for Toyota to improve on it in a better vehicle than a Jeep.

So... you don't have any experience with the current Tundra OR the upcoming Tacoma and you're just defending it because of your fanboy-ism. Yah, that's the contribution that's worth reading. The current Tundra and the 4th gen Tacoma are being built on the same platform, one of which is already out and plagued with problems. Isn't the whole point of them sharing the same platform so Toyota can save money by sharing technology and resources? But you've somehow convinced yourself that the other vehicle on the same platform will be so vastly different it won't have problems...

If they would come out with a Gladiator 4XE then I would really consider one.

Plagued with problems!!! Such as *checks notes* a screen that sometimes resets itself requires a software update and a fuel line that could rub. OH NO, the horror

A lot of blown engines on the new Tundra and still no recall. I think the new Tundra has been a disaster for Toyota's (outdated) reputation for reliability. The Tundra is a dog;I hope Tacoma can avoid the same issues.

There were a few wastegate failures that toyota investigated and changed suppliers over.

More than just wastegate issues: https://www.tundras.com/threads/3-4-i-force-engine-failures.121107/

How many blown engines? Who knows, but its another bad look for the Tundra. Without a reliability advantage it simply has no chance against Ford, Chevy, and Ram.

There are 21 people on that list. Lets say there are 100 that is still less than .001% of the 2022+ Tundras sold. I can find 9 recalls listed for the 2022 Tundra and several of them look like duplicates of the PVM and one is even for the tonneau cover. Ram looks like 3 on the 2022 1500 and Chevy 2022 1500 has 3. Ford 2022 F150 has 11. My opinion of the wastegate and engine failure is that it is being over exaggerated by a lot of the people still pissed that the V8 is gone. Still does not excuse any failure, but failures do happen and that is what the warranty is for.

I dont have a dog in the fight and could care less. Just telling you there have been numerous bearing/engine failures on virtually new Tundras. Historically driving a Toyota brought peace of mind that it would not die at 30K miles. Hopefully the Tacoma does not have the same issues.
