So sorry to hear about how bad your back is Bill. Hope you can find some relief. Wish you the best.

Yeah surgery isn't the be all end all for backs. Younger sister had a stimulator installed several years ago (after other surgeries didn't do what they were supposed to) and is still in pain

Be sure you are sitting correctly and lifting correctly!!! from the PT I saw earlier this year.

    Evening all:

    Sue!

Was sighting in the spare crossbow yesterday and decided to check the scope parallax, WOW, the crosshairs moved around quite a bit indicating that the parallax is substantial, dug out another identical scope that I have as a spare, checked the parallax, and the crosshairs barely moved, so ended up mounting that scope on the crossbow and then had to resight it in, definitely made a difference in accuracy, should be good to go now. Tomorow I will check my primary hunting crossbow, should be good to go with that one but best to check to be sure that nothing changed.

@lynyrd3 At least you now know what some of the problems are with the back. Hopefully you will be able to have an MRI, at no cost to you, for a neurosurgeon to determine the actual severity of the back issues. I have a video follow up scheduled of my recent tests to see if there is anything else I can be doing to help keep my pain to a minimal level. So far stretching works for me.

Good morning. Yard work is almost finished. We put down two Tacoma loads of a topsoil/compost mix yesterday on all the damaged areas of the lawn when the trees were removed in August. I am trying to find a grass seed accelerator germination fertilizer pellets to place on top of the seed. So far Amazon is winning but the delivery date is next week. Going out for drinks and music tonight.

Good Morning Everyone, have a great day.

Reading about back pain everyone has seems to be normal for aging.i think it can be linked back to what we all did in our younger years, some served, some probably worked hard jobs and some sat at desks
One of my brother in laws was a CPA he had surgery, it took many years after it for the pain to get better. It wasn't till he got moving and stretching. Mine bothers me off and on. Been told arthritis in it. Seems all the lifting and stuff caught up but I still go to the gym and stretch, Sitting for extend times for me is bad. If I go on a 3 or 4hr car trip it takes a bit to work it out. Good luck. I was using CBD oil for a while it helped a bit till I tested positive when I was working. Had to stop that. Seems like retirement has been better than the oil.

:pccoffee:  sixtys/wannabes/back breakers. Mine wasn't too happy with me yesterday; I was bent over the rear fender of our convertible, trying to dig a 60+ pound battery out of there and replace it with a new one. I've been avoiding the job for a couple of years if I'm honest. The CTEK battery tender has allowed me to get away with that, but lately the car just wasn't turning over like it should and with winter coming I figured I had better do it now or risk using the AAA membership.

This might sound odd but I've had a lot fewer back issues since I stopped carrying a fat wallet around in my back pocket. Men sit lopsided because of them. Not good for the spine.

    Morning all:

Interesting post about the wallet Dave, after a while I figured out that by removing the wallet from my pocket on the trips to Maine made the trip a lot more comfortable, it definitely made a difference and don't find it odd at all.

LOL! If I know I'm going to stop for a go breakfast, I keep the wallet on the console. Then, I get the receipt, and put them both inside. THEN, I panic because I've lost my wallet! :spending:

I'm getting better, because I leave it in the truck when at the hangar, but I certainly haven't overcome the "butt memory" part!

Was just going to replace the broken one, but at a whopping time investment of 3 minutes each, they are now all replaced!

    Afternoon Porch Folks :hattip:.
Went to a funeral this morning for my neighbor who just passed on wednesday at 101 years young. She passed at home with her daughter there with her.
Then it was off to the back doctor for a follow up after my back injection. Pain is down and not always there so that is a plus. I asked him about the future if the back acts up and he made another follow up for me with time to get another shot in December. I hope I don't need it. He also gave me a script for PT. He said they should gradually strengthen the back and hopefully the pain should subside.

Rain on the way for Saturday, Sunday and Monday....This I know because my back is telling me so . It's like a barometer:facepalm:.

    Have a good day all.

Hope you find a easy and convenient way to ease the pain Ken. PT usually fixes a lot of things - strengthening what hurts always seems to help.

    Afternoon all:

Ken, your back is probably more accurate than the weather forecaster for predicting the weather!
Condolences to your neighbors family, just making it to 101 is a feat in itself, sounds like she led a full life, can't ask for much more than that.

Looks good Kurt, @ 3 min. ea. it sounds like an easy project to do, I wouldn't think that it would be that easy.

@johneman pain is something most of us have to do, a guy I worked with had debilitating pain he was on fentanyl patches that he finally said was enough. Falling asleep driving stupid stuff like that. Running power saws. He got medical marijuana and got off fentanyl, now the company changed its drug policies. He can still be on fentanyl because of the prescription, but the prescription pot a no go. He's not happy. 56 and concerned about what he is going to do. He has that crippling arthritis. His little finger is twisted up.

What you describe sounds like rheumatoid arthritis, a crippling, painful , deforming type of arthritis. There is no cure but there are numerous treatments that can effectively control the disease and reduce or eliminate its symptoms including pain. None of the treatments include pot or fentanyl. He should see a Rheumatologist, who are the experts in treating RA. I’ve seen people whose fingers and hands were grossly deformed and were barely functional and proper treatment changed their lives. In addition he should seek treatment from a rheumatologist at a university hospital. University hospitals are cutting edge and often have treatments far beyond what private practice or clinical practice physicians have even heard of.

I don't know how many years ago I saw it... but maybe a decade or more ago there was a big segment on the news about a drug to treat arthritis that had amazing results. People immobilized or pretty much so were suddenly relatively free of their disability including pain.

And then I never heard anything about it again.
