Hey guys, just registered. In my younger years I had an 87 4runner but sold once the kids came along, but have always wanted to get back into another Yota.
I will try to make a long story short but this was definitely a God moment. I had a sweet 2007 Chevy (sorry) 4wd Z71 crew cab that I loved but had to sell to pay off some house debt. I told myself that I could survive without a truck.
After hauling trash, harvested deer and other items in a hitch basket…I finally snapped and said I needed a truck, problem was I can’t afford a truck payment right now.
A guy around the corner has had this sitting in his driveway for years so I finally got up with him and decided to buy it.
The mileage is ridiculous (392k) but I feel it’s a unicorn and has been well taken care of…quite a bit of work has been done to it. I put a new battery in it and drove it home.
After some TLC, it looks better and drives very well. Despite the mileage, the engine is quiet and has good power. I need to fix the cover window with some lexan I have and try to remove some dents.
1996 Tacoma 4wd, 5spd, V6. AC blows ice cold!! Thank God
$1200 cash. I figure if it blows up tomorrow, I will rebuild or replace the engine. Zero rust on the frame, only spot is the hole in the tailgate….which is a miracle lol.

anyways, I’m going to be searching this site hard for info on this truck.

I know the book calls for 5w-30, but I have had great luck with Rotella 15-40 in some other very high mileage vehicles. Thoughts on that to help stretch the life out even farther?
    Hopefully pics come through.
    God bless,
    Jarrod

    Thank you sir!

For the record, antique tags rock! Scraping off the inspection sticker for the last time is really satisfying lol
