but I'm going to do it anyway.

A while back I picked up some FJ steel rims off of Ebay for $87 apiece. I've been trying to decide what tire/size I wanted to mount on them. Then today I ran across these at WalMart. $628 for 4 285/75/17 tires. This will allow me to splurge on some SPC uca's.

I'm keeping my factory rims and 235/85/16's and going from there. I could run two sets of rims, or decide to just go with one of the two sets. If the 285's kill MPG or rub they will go (as I'm not cutting the shit out of my 2023). For the $1000 or so dollars I'll have in them (tires and rims) I'd like to think I can get at least half of that back.

looked up the reviews and they said that this brand came in last for braking and cornering. thats why they are so cheap.
also the warranty is 35k miles only. so......you get what you pay for.

they will work, but dont expect great results.

    - ICON UCAs, BP51/Kings, SCS wheels, 285s, Leer 100XR canopy. Greenlane aluminum winch bumper, Smittybilt X20 winch. Trying Falken AT3w now, Really like BF KO2s.
If you want 285 70 17s for cheap look on Facebook marketplace or Craigslist for jeep guys selling their oem takeoffs. KO2s or Falkens on the Rubicons and most guys go to 35s or 37s off the lot.

It comes down to rubbing. Best case I can make the 285's work with very, very minimal cutting. If so they become a spring/summer/fall road tire and the stock rims/235 Open Country A/T III are hunting/winter tires. At that point I'll upgrade to a better tire and very well may go the facebook/craigslist direction. Thanks for the suggestion.

So here they are. Took me a while to get them. Walmart canceled the first order after they weren't shipped for at least two weeks. Reordered and they showed up a couple days later. 285/75/17, looks like I'll have to loose the mudflaps but that looks to be it. Keeping in mind these are road tires only. I'm keeping my other set for deer season/off-road. We'll see how they do. $190 a tire so not expecting much. Less than $1200 for rims and tires. Cheap experiment to see if I want to run this size of tire I think.
