Recently my daughter showed a interest in rockets, and I used to build rockets when I was her age 40 years ago. Soooo as anyone who has kids knows, any kid who has interest in doing what is super awesome fun for Dad too, makes it hard for Momma to say no to.

So we are building and launching rockets. My son loves it too.

She built that herself, under instruction but she did everything except paint and waterslide decals.20230902_145500.jpg 20230902_144955.jpg 20230828_195631.jpg

Her Birthday is coming up, and I got her a Aerotech Initator thats 39 inches tall, and can go to 3000 feet. So we get to build that together. I am finishing up a Dragon Rocketry Wolverine 2.6" I painted it tonight, but this is it yesterday before primer, wet sanding, and paint.

It runs on a 29/40-120 reloadable composite rocket engine. 20230923_063653.jpg

20230917_080220.jpgThis is a Cherokee E with the fins on upside down. I labeled them upside down, and thats that. It doesn't really effect how it flies.

Awesome job dad. We did those years ago…. The Estes kits like mean machine, phoenix, etc. we put our phone number on them as they sometimes blew off course. One that went missing was gone for weeks before an old lady called and said she thought it was an alien craft that landed in her backyard and was scared to get it.

As we got older we graduated to putting C and D sized engines onto those large foam glider planes. What could possibly go wrong?

Maybe I can get my wife to do it, I am so focused on watching so I don't lose them. It is very exciting.

That will fly on F and G motors. I have a 4" Nike Smoke coming that is to certify L1 High Power so I can buy and fly H and I engines.
The letters represent a doubling of the thrust from the letter before.

It is very fun, building, painting, fire shooting out, a small expolsion in the sky, then a parachute recovery.

Its a blast. Even the smallest ones are fun.

I have one called Aspire that can go one mile high, or break the speed of sound. They are usually lost when you do either of those things though.

I had a bunch, still have some. The most successful one was a badmitten birdie that was easy to catch when it came down. Lost some, crashed some, but son wasn't interested.
